There are too many people on benefits

How about being constructive on my argument rather than falling to sarcasm. I'm simply reittering the popular argument of those on benefits should earn it. So in a sense, the standard form of benefits is mostly removed, and those whom havn't found a job, or are seeking a job have an option to work for the government directly. I don't see the issue with this, but you obviously do.

So rather than it being "People on benefits that are earning it" what you're talking about actually just sounds like a regular job, except specifically working for the Governement, no?

So effectively they're employed, rather than being on benefits.

I guess that also brings them the rights that employment brings, no?

Well essentially, yes. A job is always available to you from the government, which would give enough money, and presumably time for an unemployed person to find an alternative job, whilst also doing something productive for the country.

If someone is physically unable to do a job, then they wouldn't do it. Obviously this is very idealic and in practice would most likely be flawed, but the concept itself would stop demonizing those one welfare, and also contribute to society.

Maybe it's just my right wing views obscuring my vision, but hey ho

If it was a good job though, why would the unemployed person want to find an alternative job?

Basically what you're saying is create more jobs, right? In the Government sector.
Another thought of mine is nowadays we have telecommuting opportunities from the companies that aren't still stuck in the dark ages.

Telecommuting jobs are great for those with physical issues. We need more of these. Hopefully this sector will continue to grow.
Why not just stop giving them money and just give them coupons instead? Personally I'd go full Israeli and introduce mandatory sterilisation for benefits claimants.

Coupons is a good idea, however;

1) What happens when people start selling their coupons to get cash for example selling a £40 coupon to someone for £30, creating a black market?
2) What if the coupons expire before the person uses them?
3) Can we really tell someone what they can and cannot buy with coupons?

However, coupons are probably the better of most ideas on controlling benefits claimants spending, however like most things will always come with its dis-advantages. I dont think its really the money which is the problem, the problem is that this country is giving TOO MUCH in benefits and not enough for those in low paid jobs. Why would someone work when they get more in benefits. Best solution is either reduce the amount given in benefits or increase the amount given too workers, however the latter is not in the control of governments for the most part.

1) You give the DWP your account details and your ID is in the barcode, so only the recipient can use them.
2) If they've let them expire they must be well off enough not to need them, no action taken
3) Can people demand free money? Beggars cannot be choosers.

If all of the benefits is used for necessities then they can be reduced. It shouldn't cover booze and fags which a large proportion of benefits are undoubtedly used for. The savings can be used to supplement wages. There's plenty of possibilities but I can't see anything changing before the UK comes to an end.

Hell of a lot less than 16 years of child benefit.

And I wonder how many have actually been on benefits...
Who cares how much is 'lost' because of tax evasion. The number of council houses is still worse, having them promotes a 'scum-class' of British citizen.
**** you! I'm on benefits and I NEEDED it. I used it to get my GCSE's and it's funded my Access course. Now I can finally sign off benefits when I start uni in Sept.

that money isn't 'lost'

it goes to jobs, wages, capital investment. we should be lowering taxes and allowing private enterprise to be even more successful. this is the only way to create wealth and will boost the standard of living across the entire country

Tell me how giving billionaires millions of pounds that would have went into tax increases the standard of living across the country. All private companies care about is making people at the top and their shareholders rich. Jobs and wages tend to be kept at the minimum that they can get the job done with, so that the people at the top have even more money.

What we really need to do - instead of your absurd idea - is to tax companies more and ensure fines for tax evasion are so crippling that no company would dare risk it. With the extra money raised we can increase the standard of living for everyone.

Actually that is the polar opposite that needs to be done.

You're right about all companies being run for its shareholders.

However racking up tax will just serve to place those business' elsewhere.

There are more things we can do to tackle avoidance and evasion which would bring in a lot of revenue.

Banning cash, taking away the rights of small island nations to be ultra low tax or zero tax, leaving the eu making it more difficult to move capital.

All that is small beer compared to international tax laws which is the real issue when you aren't dealing with an SME.

The western nations and it partners really need to set a base rate of taxation so these companies can't avoid tax below that rate.

Then any country that refuses to agree to those regulations can have sanctions placed on them. Gun boat diplomacy for the 21st century if you like.

All super difficult and no appetite for it yet

Unless it escaped your notice, the people who aren't on benefits pay for it.

These companies will simply leave the UK. And those 'rich shareholders' are usually pensioners who's pension funds have been invested alongside millions of other pensioners so they can earn an investment return on the decades of work and contributions they've paid.

Socialist equality just means everyone being poor together.

I wonder how many anti war protestors have fought on the front line.

You do not need to have experienced something directly to have an opinion on it.
