Eligible for maintenance loan?

Hi,
I am pretty confused about whether or not I am eligible for the maintenance loan.
I am a Swiss national but have settled status in the UK and have lived here for over 3 years prior to the start of my course, so I see that I am eligible for student loans, but it doesn't look like I am eligible for the basic maintenance loan? How would that work for me then?? (I'll be a 1st year, full-time student living outside of London without my parents)

You should be eligible based on this

It could be that the online application is restricting your eligibility because you're misunderstanding the definitions. Have a dig through the UKCISA site - it should help you figure out which category of applicant you are and therefore help you fill out the application form in the way SFE are expecting.

Note: you need to get your application in ASAP if you have been resident in the UK for longer than 3 years but less than 5. The eligibility period will be extended for anyone applying for 2016/17 funding after this piece of legislation goes through towards the end of this month: http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-statement/Commons/2016-03-01/HCWS559/

Yeah, I think I meant ordinarily resident rather than settled.
From the link you gave me, it does look like I am eligible, but thanks for letting me know about the change in the law! I've had trouble finding exactly when that will take effect though?
Also, from what I understand, this is only for living/maintenance costs rather than tuition fees, am I right?

The change in law applies to the maintenance loan only. You need to apply before 24 March to avoid the longer residence requirement.
