GCSEs/A Levels for law

Hi i want to study law, but i dont know what gcses and a levels are best for this subject area ? any help please - all advice welcome .

Essay subjects are great, particularly English literature (language can be useful too) and history. Other than that, it's up to you. If you're interested in environmental law or poverty you could go for things like geography or economics. Anything that shows you can argue some good points. A foreign language is good if you want to study international law or try and specialise in the law of another country as well as the UK.

Do you think Pre-U Philosophy would be good (not certain on going to law but it's a possibility )?

I'm planning on Maths, Further Maths, Philosophy Pre-U and Economics next year (I'm also very interested in Economics...)

I did A level maths and economics and AS level philosophy so I obviously approve of your choices! I wish I'd taken further maths, too. It looked so interesting.

It's sad we have to specialise so early though... I would have liked to be able to explore other subjects (like Physics, English Lit, and Music) a bit more

But yeah, the subjects I take should be really good

I was lucky and also managed to squeeze in English lit (to A level) and music AS level, but I agree that it's a shame we can't cover a wider range of subjects at A level. I think it's crazy how you have to choose around 4 or 5 things at the age of 16 and they determine what you can do at uni (if you don't want to take a foundation year or additional qualifications before applying).

It's true. Although the positive trade-off is that I will get to go quite in-depth into Philosophy and Economics (although the Economics syllabus seems to have a slightly mixed reputation) and do A LOT OF MATHS

With Law it doesn't matter what subjects you take, but maybe having a essay subject would help. The most useful ones could be: (You only really need 1, so do whatever you want,)

History
English Lit
Economics
Philosophy
Languages
Geograpy and so on.

You said you were thinking about taking History, Philosophy and something else. Those 2 subjects would help a lot. Both essay subjects. You said for your 3rd, it would either be French, computer science, or statistics. Honestly it wouldn't matter at all. Maybe French would link the most to Law and could be useful but it doesn't really matter. You are considering statistics, have you thought about maths? Most Unis love maths so it could help and also in case you change your mind.

Hey, thanks as this is my GCSEs I'm going do history , philosophy and geography - I've decided not to do a language as I'm not very good at them so I will probably do either drama, ict, computer science or statistics
