Hey thanks for the thread! Can't get enough of all the radiography threads, interested in applying to uni Sept 2017, could you let me know all the postgrad specialities/options?

Hi Kyle, so having looked most postgrad courses in diagnostic radiography are for either: Ultrasound (which you will interpret your own images); CT/MRI, Mammography; Image Interpretation. It depends on what interests you  You could also progress and become a Superintendent or Senior Radiographer, go into education and lecture or focus on becoming a Consultant Radiographer if you'd like to interpret images. There are a number of other areas within radiography you can specialise in (e.g. Intervention / barium swallow / paediatrics / cardiac / nuclear medicine / trauma)

Hello there!
Haven't firmed yet. One more interview left then I'll be making my decision, had offers from all my choices so far but Sheffield has really stood out for me.

Going for a tour of the campus and accommodation tomorrow, which is going to sway my decision, as I'm a mature student looking to move into halls possibly for the first year. Hoping I can group up with some other mature students.

I'm half way through my access course at the moment and just can't wait to start the degree and placements!

I'd initially like to work in trauma but my long term goal is to specialise in musculoskeletal ultrasound. Do you like the thought of reporting your own images? So a radiologist I work with said 'Physics for Chemists' (Cockett et al) will help with calculus and I found another book called 'Principles of Radiological Physics'.

Although i like the idea of US, my long term goal is to work in paediatrics so im looking forward to getting some more experience in different areas to make my mind up! I like the idea of reporting images although it does seem quite daunting! I have spoken to a few students at sheffield who strongly recommend clarks books!

Thanks, I'll have to check them out. I think placement will definitely get us re/thinking about what we want to specialise in. Are you planning on getting some more work experience before the course starts?

Hi, it may be worth checking online with regards to salary but the NHS work on a banding system. Definitely look to work in a speciality you find you enjoy.

 I'm young too, 25 is young right? On a serious note that's really good. I work for a teleradiology company where radiologists report on acute and routine cases. I also volunteer in my spare time. Where do you work?

That's good  What are your modules like at college? Do you know which hospitals you're thinking of choosing for your placement?
