How do I Make Science Notes?
When revising Science, I prefer to write out notes from the revision guide by hand so that I am actually processing the information. I use the outline system to take these notes (see the picture) and then after a few days, I will get these notes and type them up so that I have a neat version that I can access anywhere. It is also much easier to combine topics or search for them if they are digitally stored (though both ways work fine on their own). As I write a page of notes, I will make questions and answers which not only helps me consolidate what I have learnt, but also saves me time when I decide to make flashcards/question cards for the subjects.

When making notes, I will use shorthand for certain things such as 'at' will become @ and 'and' will become +. I will also not include the word 'the' so that everything is shortened and easier to remember.

Oh right thank you very much i will try these and by the way do you look at the specification??if so how do you ?? Thanks xx

I don't look at the specification for GCSE, though I have done for the A-levels I am planning and it doesn't seem a bad idea so I might do before my GCSEs. If I do, I will probably go through it and tick off everything I can do and use a traffic light system to identify which areas I need to focus on (red being totally new/never taught and green being confident)

Most people say that looking at the specification helps but there are some parts where i have trouble at . Thanks
Geography Revision Techniques
For Geography, besides past papers, I have recently started making diagrams and more creative methods to memorise the formations/layouts of various things. Ican then put these up in my room and constantly remind myself of what key information I need to know and eventually it becomes so familiar that I can recall it. It is a great method to use because you learn whilst you are making them and when you get to colour it in or make it look pretty, it can be more relaxing and less taxing on the brain (however, don’t spend too much time colouring, obviously ).

I also use the outline method for notes on every topic in the modules and do the same as I do for Science. For case studies, I create tables with the details I need to know and then create mind maps with diagrams to associate with the facts and statistics and flashcards/question cards are useful for making sure you know the specific details or just a way to refresh your memory in a few free minutes you may have.

Sometimes diagrams are good for going into your subconscious if you see them often enough. And as you can't see the pictures, are you viewing these posts on mobile or computer?

OOOH sure

Knowledge of uses of blast furnace iron is limited toblast furnace iron being used as cast iron because of itsstrength in compression. ( really dont get this?)

evaluate developments in the production and usesof better fuels, for example ethanol and hydrogen

evaluate the benefits, drawbacks and risks ofusing plant materials to produce fuels.

These two are the 6 markers i reckon

Thanks zoe your a star x

Wow that's wordy - and quite complicated. Our Science doesn't cover this but the first bit is about the fact that there are drawbacks with furnaces and blast iron has to be used as cast iron because the pressure in the furnace is extremely high.

As for the bullet points the first one means that you have to be able to talk about how it is used normally and then compare it to other fuels like ethanol and hydrogen (so you should make sure you know how these fuels are used)
The second bullet point basically needs you to put your answer into 3 sections, what is good about using plant materials, what is bad/disadvantages, and what are the risks.

I can't really give you any info on the content itself as I wouldn't have a clue, but that's what each point means - if that helps

Oh I'm on computer and I can see them but when I use a mobile device it doesn't show. I will keep trying to find a way to make sure you can see them

Good luck with this!! You just gave me the idea of doing it too, seeing that I simply can't stick to a revision timetable, so I made a thread as well
