Not that I'm a fan of Tesco - I used to work on a farm that was a major supplier to Tesco, and their demands were ridiculous - but they do have lower overheads.

For what it's worth I would have chosen to use local butchers and grocers when I was living in the UK, but their opening hours coincided very closely with my working hours. The only time they were open and I wasn't at work were Saturday mornings, when frankly I had more interesting things to be doing.

If high street shops unite into buying groups they can use their unity to do the same thing as Tesco.

You do raise a good point though. I think high street shops would have a lot to gain if they adjusted their opening hours. This is the kind of progress that you get with a well informed working class though.

Its all about being above par and not joining the herd because a wealthy capitalist loves nothing more than dumb sheep that stands in a 2000 person que to get the latest Iphone.

Now that's a thought to get farmers jumping for joy eh? In any case it still doesn't make it realistic for small retailers to sell more for less whilst employing more people than Tesco. Tesco enjoy many other economies of scale, and it may have escaped your notice but they've not been raking in the profits recently.

That's a nice idea, but in my experience (and I've worked several working class jobs) most working class people are primarily interested in keeping things as they are and collecting their pay cheque at the end of the week. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with that, but the resistance to reasonable (and sometimes necessary) change can be out of all proportion. Even if most of the workforce aren't all that bothered you typically get the union dinosaurs resisting with every fibre of their being. I've seen it happen.

I'm a Socialist Libertarian. Someone who is incredibly hard to pin down. I vote between Labour and Conservative values. There isn't one exact answer to events that strike us in life. Events have a lot of variables and its choosing the right actions at the right time.

Take the austerity cuts for example. I think the cuts of 2010 where necessary but the out come of those cuts has been a massive shift of wealth from the public to the private sector. Since then till now there has been zero investment in bringing down the cost of necessities of life. no investment in green technology and no investment in automation over large parts of our industries.

The Tories are basically slinging the rich life rafts at the expense of everyone else.

Most lefties would would condemn the Tories on every issue and most would go as far to back Obama and Bernie Sanders over in the US about how money printing is good and that there is nothing from with the US economy blah blah .................. Sorry US and UK lefties I don't drink your kool-aid. Nor do I drink the kool-aid from the right-wing.

You can call me a troll all you like but the fact is I've brought up a good topic and 1 in 3 people agree with me.

If they don't change their stubborn attitude things will get worse. Automation will bring them to their knees and they won't even have the luxury of living in a over crowded flat. They'll be living in caravan parks and deemed the new breed of gypsy.

What really bothers me isn't what the rich do but more or less what the working classes masses will do when they revolt. They'll most likely vote in someone more radical than Jeremy Corbyn who will be hell bent on destroying Capitalism as we know it and targeting the last remnants of the resistance against Socialism.

Stalin did this when he murdered all the Kulaks in Ukraine. Kulaks where wealthy peasants but in todays age you could call them Doomsday Preppers.

I identify as a Doomsday Prepper and to be quite honest with you I have zero sympathy for a working class person who isn't prepared to do the intelligent thing which will lead to a early liberation from the class of capital. Its better than the latter which is is either a Fascist or Communist state imposing its will on everyone else.

The rich think they have everything made at the moment. Last time I checked the FTSE100 has fell 15% since April 2015. If it drops 5% more we are in recession and there will be panic.
