Original post by Millie1986I didn't do A Levels to get in, so that isn't much use to you, but I do know that generally speaking they stick to the A*AA entry requirements, but it can vary from year to year depending on numbers - if they have too few students who met their offer then they would take people who slightly missed their offer rather than go into clearing, but some years they have too may students make their offer, so then obviously they don't take anyone who is at all under. The course is good - it's a really nice department - very friendly, approachable staff etc. We have our new building opening next month too, so that's exciting. I am doing my placement in child and adolescent mental health, which is what I wanted, but there are hundreds of placements you can apply for - I have friends who will be in adult mental health, education, prisons, forensic psychiatric wards, businesses, research - all sorts. Some people go to the USA or Australia and do research in a uni there for their placement, then there are lots of placements in UK universities - Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol, Bath, Manchester, Exeter to name a few, in all areas of psychology. Then quite a few prison and forensic psychiatric ward placements. Then lots of health and clinical placements - some in medical settings, so clinical psychology working with people with physical illnesses for example, Then lots in IAPT, some in private hospitals like The Priory, some in specialist areas of clinical psychology, for example working with refugees, and some in child/adolescent mental health. Then some people go to businesses and do business psychology, one guy I know is going to the BBC. All sorts! I want to do clinical psychology and am particularly interested in working with young people, which is why I am doing what I am doing, but I can guarantee there will be lots of placements you will be interested in - it is really hard choosing where to apply! I'm not really a big clubber, so for nightlife questions you might be better asking on the forum for Bath Uni, as people from any subject can answer that, and probably better than me. There is definitely plenty to do though!
