Nature VS Nurture?

Is behaviour biological(nature) and often with us from birth or environmental(nurture)

I personally think its nurture because the minute we are born we are influenced by our surrounding and sometimes don't act in accordance to our own liking.

So, what do you think about this whole nature VS nurture debate?

It's a combination of Genetics and environment. However, the third factor is individual choices. We all have free will to act a certain way.

I have just listened a documentary about this today and there it was said that our behaviour is mostly environmental but this is not good. In my opinion every individual will be truly happy if he knows himself.

Modern scientific research would agree with you! Except for physical conditions/ characteristics - this would include neurological disorders such as degrees autism and things like Parkinson's - it seems that nurture really is the most important factor determining human behaviour. I recommend you take a look at the New Scientist for articles on this topic - I'm sure you'll find loads that interests you. A good example would be attachment research (early relationships with carers actually affects how the brain structure develops) - there's someone called Dan Siegel who writes about this in a popular way.

Yes, what's your talking about is higher cognition - which includes our ability to make sense of the world and events. This is uniquely human and defines our consciousness. It is however in interaction with our environment (not isolated from it) and if you were to hypothesis about controlling it you would arrive at the example of someone who was so unsocialised it would perhaps be impossible for them to ever integrate into human society. Such a person would also be without language and if past a certain age beyond the possibility of developing it!

This is also interesting.
You are right nature is biological and nurture is environmentalI believe it’s both nature and nurture because our hair colour for instance someone can be born with brown hair but in the sun it can change colour also you can die the colour of your hair so it’s both nature and nurture
