PGCE Science 2016

Good question. I feel happier with biology than physics and, as I'm doing chemistry SKE, I will have access to materials for the other two sciences (which I am planning to use).
I think I may be in denial / blissful ignorance about subject knowledge at this stage. Eek!
I am looking forward to SKE as did my A levels 30 years ago and my degree was in pharmacy.
I have bought a KS3 science revision and am planning to work through that as well.

Thought I might chip in... I'm doing my pgce in biology just now (only 54 teaching days to go.... But who's counting 😂) ...

I've taught chem and physics up to top set year 11 (KS4)... Do prepare yourself, its a big challenge to teach out your specialism like this, I definitely think we earn our bursary 😆

Not to mention all the extra practical based sessions, safety etc we do, on top of the normal uni based stuff, with the other secondary pgce students! It's no walk in the park!

That's very true, that's why i'm trying to get my subject knowledge of all 3 topics up to GCSE level. I'm not studying anything else at the moment so the SKE course is brilliant. I will definitely be using the material to help me in the training year.

How many lessons are you teaching per week now? would you say it gets easier in your second placement?

just in the process of getting referees lined up to apply for secondary physics How are you feeling about the sciences that are not your main focus? I must admit it feels like a lot to get your head around having to potentially teach chemistry and biology too up to at least KS3 having not done them for so many years

so that was very quick! I was still getting referees lined up 3 weeks ago and I've now got 2 conditional offers - one for School Direct and one core uni based.

One thing I noticed at the interviews and SEP days is there seems to be lots of biologists this year!

Well done!! Which one will be your first option? I'm guessing there are a lot of biologists this year due to the bursary.
