I usually encourage the following ingredients for a Band 4 response to question 1:

Point, Embedded Evidence, Interpretations , Cross reference to another part of the text, Link

The cross reference is great because you can talk about how ideas are reinforced or contrasted by different people in the text and, thus, show a more detailed and perceptive outlook onto the text
