She's been using contraception for 6 years. Why should she have to put more chemicals in her just for him?

True, her boyfriend should use a condom. He is just selfish.

okay i didnt know that about the implant.

but surely having to take a pill every day isnt much of a inconvenience considering that it ensures a pretty good sex life for both parties. and even if you miss one it's not even the end of the world.

what you said about the pill isnt a good enough reason at all. and 'one sex intercourse' is a terrible way to put it, good regular sex in a relationship is extremely important, having one pill a day to ensure its continuity is hardly a struggle.

I currently take the pill for medical reasons. You're right, it's "only one pill a day". But I also have anything up to 3 periods in a month. Now that is a bloody struggle, especially when they last 4-5 days at a time. It completely messes up your cycle.

I would say putting on a condom is even less of a struggle than taking a pill every day, especially since it doesn't come with the side effects of mood swings, weight gain and loss of self drive. Plus you have to go to doctors every 6-12months for check ups.

I think the OPs boyfriend is being incredibly selfish but if he refuses to change his mind, the OP can only take responsibility for contraception again herself or break up with him.

The downside some men can't get it up while wearing them... aka no sex at all.

It's not so common with younger men who've just started having sex of the last 5 years or so. But after that it's remarkably common for men to struggle while wearing them.

I'm not too fussed wearing them myself (as long as had sex I'm happy), but it has caused an issue on occasion.

clearly missed the point entirely. the fear of not being able to get it going because of putting on the condom (extremely common) is the issues hes facing and a very valid one at that. not the fear of rolling latex down his penis. you should learn to read.

I guess the 'fear' of having kids is a much lesser one is it?
Did you even read my post?

It's not taking the pill that's hard, it's the fact it increases the risk of some cancers and strokes. Would you take something that did that?
Most men don't like condoms, and he's had 6 years of condom-free sex with you, of course he's not mad on the idea of suddenly having to start wearing condoms.

Slightly irresponsible but I say just use the rhythm and pull-out method. My boyfriend and I have never used any other form of contraception as I won't take the pill and condoms are a hassle - yes less of a hassle than a baby but if you avoid sex on your fertile days and always pull out you're very unlikely to risk pregnancy.

TBF Condoms can be expensive and a mood killer in a long-term relationship. Do you not fancy the pill?

A baby is even more expensive and a STI is a bigger mood killer.

The NHS will give you free condoms.
I think OP wasted 6 years on this guy ....

He sounds very immature, if he doesn't respect your wishes then withold him sex, if he carries on kicking off then I'd consider dumping him.
