Many Moslems recite from it, but few seem to understand what it means as they continue to insist Islam is a religion of peace which gives equality to women.

The religious leaders are correct, of course. Giving women better treatment is unislamic.

Apart from the Quran, sura 4:34 of course. Which makes wife-beating very much part of the religion.

I'll put it this way: HAnwar isn't joking when she says that a ban is headed your way if you're too vocal in your criticism of Islam. It really is. There's a good bet that this thread will eventually be deleted, too.

It's great when they criticise western women calling them whores but when we do the reverse and called islamic women oppressed because of their religion, we get reported.
