I suppose you can't really expect much more as neither team has a huge fan base in this region of the world. Anyway it's a nice pitch so we should see some hitting I hope from this pair. And of course would be lovely to see some long shots with West Indian strength

So, Jimmy Anderson was right. England have turned up at a tournament without a leading wicket taker, or headline bowler, and they'll duly be punished.

Gayle is an explosive, exceptional T20 batsman. But England's bowling was all wrong. Topley was found out as out-of-his-depth, Rashid should have bowled more than two overs, and Moeen simply isn't cut out to bowl at levels like today.

May we see a tournament where two of the big three go home before the knockout stage? Certainly seems so.

A much improved performance by Pakistan today. Hafeez/Shehzad/Afridi pilfering runs but Saturday is when it matters more in a big game. I doubt any of them will muster up a performance with the bat but the bowlers led by Amir, are doing a fine job and their only hope.

As well as overtaking McCullum in the records for most T20 sixes hit, Gayle's century helps Windies register their ninth win over England in the format.

That's their highest number of wins against any team in this format, and also the most losses for England against an opposition.

A crazy day of cricket. The tournament is wide open, and both groups are tough. One of the main reasons why group 1 was considered easier was because people didn't think WI really had a chance to make it through, but they have shown their quality. England are gonna find it tough now, especially with SA next. They basically have to win that game. Will be interesting to see how SL do now.

Loads of people were writing Pakistan off because of their previous form but they have shown today that form means nothing in this tournament. Don't see Bangladesh coming back from that, to be honest. If they were going to make it through, I thought they had to beat Pakistan. Massive game on saturday between India and Pakistan. Luckily, we normally bring our A-game against our rivals :biggrin:

England were incredibly naive yesterday.

You can easily just say the Windies are their bogey side, but that's missing the point of the fallibility of the selectors' decisions.

The bowling attack is nowhere near good enough, and Morgan isn't pragmatic enough in the field.

England were always going to struggle having the majority of their players making their debuts in India. Only Morgan and Plunkett are over the age of 26, with the former being the only one with IPL/India T20 experience.

The Windies, like the other nations, are different. They have an abundance of experience, players over 30 who have been there and done it.

Yeah, it's true. Experience in these conditions is vital and England don't have that much. Tomorrow promises to be an exciting day with England VS South Africa and New Zealand vs Australia.

^As shown by Bravo's bowling which was highlighted in the Verdict - but still felt as they knew what he was going to deliver to improvise a tad more to be more aggressive. But West Indies T20 side has a wealth of experience, a shame their Test team is so depleted with experience.
