UCL ESPS Dual Degree 2016

Hey guys! I just wanted to start a new thread for just ESPS Dual Degree people! I know that there is already a normal ESPS thread but honestly they are very different degrees and I wanted a thread where we could talk a lot more about Sciences Po, seeing as half of our degree is going to be at the university.

So, did anyone get an offer? And which campuses are you going to?

Also, share with us whatever else you feel like sharing

Thank you for this new thread @martagottweets
So, as I told you, I did receive an offer (just can't firm it at the moment) and going to Poitiers campus !
Where are you from Marta ?

Hi everyone!! Thank you Marta for having created the thread, great initiative! In Dijon I will do a dual degree in law with the Dijon's Law Faculty, and in principle, my years in UCL have to count as "erasmus years" for the Dijon Faculty, which would give me the Dijon's bachelor of law degree (with Sciences Po's and Ucl's bachelors as well). Would anyone be interested by it too?

And where are you from Thisiskarma?
Also, congrats to everyone for being admitted!!
Also guys, I forgot to say than a specific Sciences Po/UCL association has been created by current students! The advantages for us are numerous, we will not only have a t-shirt (yay) but also an exclusive alumni network, which is pretty amazing haha!! Here is the link of the association https://www.leetchi.com/c/association-spucl
If you only want to join the association, it is 10 euros, if you want to join it and have the T-shirt as well you need to pay 30. I want the t-shirt so bad so i'm going to pay the 30 in a few minutes! I would, at least, highly recommend you to join the association, because such an alumni network will be useful for our entire life I guess!!

nb: Since it has just been created, we have, for the first run, until sunday to pay, so I would recommend you to do it quite fast if you want to join it soon!

Wow that sounds like a lot of work but ambitious people are the best people so super good luck with that and (hopefully) I'll see you in Dijon if I pass my exams with the grades to get in!

This sounds really cool! Is it legit though? Cause if I'm paying I don't want my credit card details to end up being stolen or something!
Hey folks !
@cybermadara I'm from Paris, and you ? Your programme sounds amazing ! Does that mean you'll have a sort of "triple" qualification ?
Does anyone know how many applicants there were (in total) for the Dual Degree programme, and how many were finally taken ? I saw the information somewhere (last year's stats) on the UCL website but I can't find it anymore ! Looked for it for about an hour ! :frown:

I'm afraid I don't know! I know Sciences Po has a 10% acceptance rate. I know that for normal ESPS they took in 69 people. I think I read somewhere that they only take about 16/17 people on the Dual Degree but I think that is too small a number to be accurate.
On another note, when I walked past the Sciences Po library in Paris, I saw that they had Sciences Po notebooks and jumpers etc. Does anyone know if you can purchase those even if you don't study at the university yet? Kinda need them for motivation to get in haha! Literally not feeling like I'm going to pass my exams this year...
Hey,
I got an offer for the Spanish Major in Poitiers.
I'm German, graduated from a German-French school and currently volunteer in Colombia, and would take the Econ Specialisation at UCL.
I also hold an offer for PPE at LSE, and I'm hesitating - especially if I really need the Spanish (considering 80% is either way in French) and Portuguese, which I only learned about during my Sc Po interview
Comparing my choices, I find the description of the whole Dual Degree a bit intransparent (maybe this doc helps you too, just found it: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/esps/docs/module-selection/course-selection-guidelines-dd-third-years)
Do you know if during the ScPo years EU students are elegible for the Student Loan?

Sorry for sounding a bit pessimistic

You guys must all be impressive,
Nicolas

Congrats on LSE btw! And you are eligible for student loans at ScPo but I think you have to go by their deadlines for scholarships and stuff so it might be too late? Don't really know! You'd have to email the ScPo people.
Woops I hadn't seen your message man, sorry haha ^^. I'm from Avignon (so french too :d)! Yes that's correct, three degrees are given in the end!

I don't know for plain ESPS, but as far as Sciences Po is concerned, I have been told from a friend who is in the dual degree that they take a maximum of 20 people each year depending on the number of applicants.
In fact, since a lot of people applied this year (and more and more tend to apply), they may take about 20 people (so this may be 16/17 as you said).
But, my friend was admitted in 2013, and since there were not many applicants (between 80 and 100 I subjectivly think), only 8 people were admitted!

20 people is definitely not a lot for the Dual Degree! Between TSR and people in real life I already know at least 5 people who got in (some places are conditional so we'll have to wait and see if they actually get in - like me.. :frown: ) So does that mean that there are only 15 people that I haven't heard of that got a place? That's so weird! I swear when I went to the UCL assessment day at least 20 people were there for the Dual Degree interviews - and only 20 get in in total! Woah, so many people must've gotten rejected - that must be awful...
Can anyone tell me more about the Dijon campus? Like accommodation, lecture halls, dining rooms etc. I have visited it so I don't really know what to expect and the website doesn't have that information...
I was thinking we could move this group to Facebook? I think more people use FB than TSR so there's bound to be more of a community and maybe some students already on the course that can help us out! I'll link the FB group here as soon as I'm done creating it! Hope everyone thinks this is a good idea!

Ok I can't create the group unless I invite a friend but none of my friends are on the course... Anyone want to tell me their FB name so I can create the group?
Hey Marta! I am Julien Argoud on Facebook, you can add me to make the group if you want to!
I'll try to answer all your other questions during the upcoming days, but it's quite tough for me at the moment owing to exams haha x)
