HNC to HND confusion

I just started my HNC last month and I like it so much I want to continue studying when I finish in July. I can transfer on to the second year of the HND but have been told I won't get any more funding until January even though it's a new course.

Is this right? If so, why? It's really frustrating!

No-one? I was hoping for and SFE response! Does anyone know where the rules about this are? I can't find anything on the student finance site and I haven't been able to get through to ask for details.

Hi ac1277

You would normally do 1 year of a course per academic year so if you started one as a January start, the next year of the course would start the following January (or Feb).

But it's a different course - that's the point!

My HNC is January to July, but the second year of the HND starts in September.
