England will definitely reach the last four if they beat Sri Lanka on Saturday and South Africa are defeated by West Indies on Friday.

Completely bottled it. An Indian defeat would mean it would certainly come down to NRR between the four other sides, apart from NZ, to join the Black Caps in the SFs.

Now, it seems the India vs Australia match is effectively a QF.

Well Pakistan have to beat Australia for India to go through ( if India beat Aus too)

But if Aus win against Pak, then India has to win against Aus for NRR to come into play.

Yes but Aus vs Pak is before Aus vs Ind. So the result of that match decides how easy it is for India to go through or not

Yes, that's what I'm saying.

Australia vs India is practically winner-takes-all, if everything goes to plan and (as we all expect) Australia emerge victorious against Pakistan.

Although still would be a very interesting game tomorrow. Pakistan need to win to have a chance of going through. And Australia need to win to avoid a NRR-dependent situation.

If Pakistan beat Australia, and Australia beat India, then all three teams will end up with two wins and two losses. So it would be NZ going through and whoever has the highest NRR out of Australia or Pakistan.

(India would be out in that scenario as Pakistan's NRR must be higher than India's).

Shane Watson will quit international cricket after the World T20.

59 Tests, 190 ODIs, 56 T20 caps. World Cup winner in 2007 and 2015. Player of the World T20 in 2012. Ashes winner in 2013-14.

Injuries affected him really fulfilling his career consistently but when he was in form, he was good to watch. But technical issues clearly, and at times embarrassingly, exposed.
