Anybody going or thinking of going to the Lingustics masterclass at Cambridge University on April 8th? I'm really looking forward to it, it'll be my first time in Cambridge!

Maybe Linguistics?😉 Haha, I'm kidding, but yeah I think it'll be very beneficial! I'm not really interesting in doing Linguistics at uni but I do English Language now + I think it's going to be good revision for that. Also I'm not sure if I'm going to make it to the Cambridge open days so I'm taking it as an opportunity to experience the uni!

I have looked at the Psychology Philosophy and Linguistics degree that they do at Oxford and thought this would be a good insight into some more about linguistics! They only offered literature at our school (which I take) but it means I don't know anything about linguistics 😁

Ah don't worry! You'll probably recognise a lot of things from GCSE + lower school English + maybe even A Level English Lit. It's basically about how language works, with a few theorists + some specialist terminology thrown in. Personally I find it really interesting! Especially stuff about variations between regions + countries.

yaay I'm going too! I'm actually from Cambridge and I'm sure you'll like it a lot
Hey! I went to a linguistics masterclass in March specifically in Corpus Christi and it was absolutely fantastic - super interesting lectures, a very good tour and loads of really friendly people. If the one in April is anything like mine back in March, you'll absolutely love it

Sounds great I hope it's just as good!! Quick question; did you take notes at the lectures, is it worth taking a notebook??

Honestly it depends what you're planning to get out of the day! I took a notebook and took some notes, but in the end I preferred to just listen and soak it all in! It's definitely worth bringing a small one though just in case
