Not totally true! Health Education England still pays for part of the post, but the amount reduces year on year. Luckily, the fact that the trainee is in-service means they are already being paid. The only problem is if the department needs to back-fill the post for the time the trainee is away at uni or in placements (most of the first year).

I answered the questions (i thought) bang on, about how each aspect of the nhs values i already put into use etc and how i would utilise them relevantly in the NHS etc.. onwards and upwards! best of luck to u

I would say it is because you have not finished your degree, whereas more people who applied for your specialisms have got theirs already. A MSc is part of the training, so not necessary to get in, but if more people have better qualifications, then they will get shortlisted ahead of you. Sounds like you just need to get a good degree result and apply next year.

Ha, the same as me! It's funny how this card is pulled out not when I moved to Ireland for a few months, but the possibility of moving back to the UK which isn't London (if I get the post!).

How's everyone's preparation going? I feel like I'm very short of time...

Not great, to be honest. I have no NHS experience whatsoever and I can't remember anything from my microbiology undergrad courses anymore. And the description of the interview stations is so vague that I feel like they might ask us almost anything..

A friend of mine has just completed the STP and said on her interview day there was actually someone who cried through the interviews!!!!!

I know!!! But I think it was more a reflection on the candidate than the actual interview!! My friend said she actually quite enjoyed hers!!

I'm an undergraduate in my final year, and have been offered an interview for Haematology :smile:

Although haven't studied it in ages and am so unsure what to try and focus on for interview prep!

I'm presuming NHS values is quite straight forward? read lots NHS websites, and really know the values and maybe examples of how you fit them? Does anyone know if more is required for this stage?

The basic science skills seems like it could be anything? and I have no idea how to prep for that? maybe go over some of the basic maths involved in dilutions?

Leadership skills- I imagine this transferable from most other interviews and there seems to be quite a lot on-line for this sort of interview question? Does anyone know anything that NHS is particularly interested in for leadership skills?

And then specific Haematology questions I have just been cramming all the basics. Basic principles and clinical skills?

If anyone has any advice, or where I can find any useful information I would be soooo grateful!
