Anyone Considering Medicine in Europe?

There are huge differences between Czech and Bulgaria and Czech is not in the Balkans for a start. Czech is Central/West Europe with Germany to the North and Austria to the South.

Charles is one of the world's top 2% of universities and is leagues ahead of any Bulgarian uni.

and you think University there is not corrupt? Either way, some people may apply to Bulgaria as tuition is a lot cheaper,
In my case, I obviously rather go there as I speak the language fluently and have family back there, makes the process easier.

Just seems people here like to bash education in certain countries, because of reputation of the country, Bulgaria is corrupted but there is corruption even here In Canada just not as easily noticeable

That's a fair point but do you think you will find a competitive job after graduating from a corrupt country, i.e. Bulgaria, where it is known for bribed degrees and examinations. I don't think it would be the best option to study in Bulgaria just for the sake of having cheaper tuitions. Pay an extra £1000-2000 and graduate from Czech Republic that has prestigious universities such as Masaryk and Charles First Faculty University. Or University of Debrecen in Hungary, a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it and is at the highest reputable rank in Europe.

You can graduate from UK and still be a shitty doctor or not be able to get a job. I have friends with 98.9% average trying to get in med school with insane stats in Canada and get rejected over people with lower averages.

Whether you go to Charles and I go to Bulgaria, I could still be a better doctor than you if I bust my ass, and study and do my job.

Hungary is also quite corrupted as well, but why would I spend almost 15k euro to go to Charles when I could spend more and go to Ireland ..

When doctors graduate they are pretty much at the same level - you get the same degree wherever you study - unlike say you study Economics you will need to be at a high ranked University and get better marks to score a better degree. This is not the case for medicine, you do not need to be a topper for medicine, you do not need to at a top university; you will get the SAME DEGREE.

What matters most is what you do after graduation. What you specialise in or what job you take up is the prominent factor.

If you become a GP and I become a specialist surgeon, i.e. a Neurosurgeon, I will be a better doctor than you!

And Ireland is so tough to get in, you need A*A*A* and a high HPAT score (this is for RCSI), I am sure it is the same requirement for other Irish Universities.

I would rather spend 15K in Hungary, knowing that it is easier to get in, knowing it is a prestigious university, and knowing that they do USMLE course so I can go USA for training.

Very true on the same degree, also depends who has 15k and who has 8k right, I already have 30k to pay for undergraduate degree in Canada.

It is a lot easier for me to try and get ranked here in Canada after because I already have completed an undergraduate bachelor compared to my friend who is went to med school straight from highschool.

I am not saying Charles isn't a great a school, just everyone has different financial status right, and as you said med degree is a med degree

Would the Basic Medical Course where you can attend the medical university in Europe a year earlier (so missing out A2), be equivalent of A2 qualification?

I completely understand. Why can you not apply in USA? Or go for St Georges University in Grenada?

These sounds more like a foundation . You should finish your A-levels really as it would look seriously dodgy on your cv if you had only studied up to A/S only. Think about how you would explain that if you were interviewed for a job!

USA is expensive so is Grenada, I have an university degree already here in Canada and only can get loan in Canada, so USA or Grenada no option, Europe is cheaper and I have saved enough to pay off a few years

Have you finalised any Europe university you would like to go?

Most likely applying to Plovdiv as it is closer to my home town, and relatives. Pleven is good but way too up north for me to enjoy, have had enough of cold weather from Canada.

Medical schools in Eastern Europe-too expensive for what you get in return!

What do you mean by "for what you get in return"? I am sure all we need is an accredited medical degree that is recognised everywhere.
