Easter Revision Hours HELP?

Hi there!

I'm super new to this whole TSR thing so i just wanted to say hello!

My name is Eve and I'm 16 in Year 11.

Anyways, I'm currently on my Easter break and apart from Easter Sunday i have done 5-9 hours a day revision (that 9 hour day KILLED me so I doubt I shall ever do that again)

i was just wondering how much everyone else is doing, partly to reassure myself and partly out of curiosity!

I have 1 A* in ICT already and I am predicted 11 A*s this year, but I feel like as soon as I move on to revise another subject it all leaves my brain! GAH!

I'm Verity and I'm technically a year twelve student. Welcome to TSR by the way. . I took my GCSEs last year and what helped me was to take breaks after doing one thing. What also helped me was to hide distractions and not stress yourself out over everything. Don't think of things as big chunks, think of things as smaller chunks instead. That way you don't get overwhelmed with it all.

You're welcome! Don't worry about it, you're going to smash these exams because you seem like a smart person asking for help this early on. Earlier you ask for help the earlier things can be started with and the more help you can get. I learnt that the hard way!

Btw guys, asking anyone, how do people reivse english literature? Mainly plays, like romeo and juliet? I'm struggling to revise it, as it's on my exam, not just coursework? I know people recommend mind maps, however, is characters and themes all you need to know? Please any help i'll be so grateful i'm stressing!

I always wondered if you went on TSR haha

I'm currently doing 6 hours a day, this is for Scottish Highers though and I'm doing 4 subjects so it's a little bit different. I think it's important to still have free time and that motivates me as I'm revising throughout the day or I just get so stressed which makes everything worse.

During exam leave I usually do more as I can get up earlier as I find it difficult to revise past 6pm for some reason

I'm a year 12 student revising for my as levels at the moment so this is the second consecutive easter holiday I'm spending doing revision! I remember last year for my GCSEs I never made a timetable, and to be honest I didn't revise as early and as much as I wanted to. I had so many exams to revise for that for some the only revision I did was reading the textbook the night before. however, I did end up with all As and A*s, but it wasn't fun at all and it was a very stressful experience.

my advice would be use a timetable, a daily list, whatever is going to keep you on track. don't compare what you're doing to others, just work at your own pace, as long as you're going to be feeling confident by the time exams come around. but at the same time, while it's great to have a schedule, don't beat yourself up if you don't stick to it - remember self-care!! if you're feeling a little down or tired don't push yourself - take a break, drink some water. it'll be the best thing to do in the long run. another important thing is to make sure that you're only revising what you'll really need. take a look at the specifications for each of your subjects by going on the exam board website - then you can print them out and use them as a checklist!!

Btw, i know you have bad predictions but don't let that put you off trying hard. I was only predicted 10A*s but i worked hard and got better. You can do it if u try (word of encouragement, not being serious coz you'll probably end up failing in life and sucking bellybuttons for money. if that actually does happen then hit me up i might be into that )

I'm doing around 7 hours I'd say are 'solid' revision. I work from 10am - 9pm but it's slightly exhausting and my brain gets frazzled from all the information but because I have a job on the side & they want me to work extra shifts these holidays I panic that this is my prime time of revision because I think it'll all be more stressful when we go back, it's more relaxed revision atm because there's no teachers yapping down our necks
