Yeah Janice was definitely the most questioning and made me rethink a lot of things about my practice and where I want to go, I found Gail a lot more sort of supportive if that makes sense? Like she still questioned me but I felt a lot more comfortable with her it was like talking to one of my tutors on my foundation or something! It was good to have that balance. I was chatting to a friend who's in her first year of the course and it turns out Gail is her tutor and she confirmed my initial impression that she's absolutely lovely! I found them both so helpful to talk to though and the student was so so so helpful with answering my questions about critical studies. I was a lot more nervous and jittery to begin with, I feel like I got a lot better towards the end, or at least I hope! Haha

Any one know what halls are good for goldsmiths, how far away from the campus they are and how much they cost etc?

Oops just realised I got the names mixed round :colondollar: (quite tired after the last few days..><) (I edited my original post)
Tbh the whole experience for me was like being a bit drunk..some moments very clear some blurry and disorientating... That's how I would sum it up ahah
I had my interview on Monday and had Gail and Janice too! I agree, they were deeply questioning but not as negative as I'd anticipated from what I'd read online. I fielded everything as well as I could considering I was really nervous, I think it went well, but they were quite hard to read! I just wish I had a firm date for when we'll hear back. It's all I can think about right now and it's distracting me from foundation work :/
I got rejected! Said my interview didn't meet criteria, which is strange because I felt it went really well. So i've accepted Chelsea! Anyone else heard back?

I got rejected too!! I thought mine went really well too! Aha the girl who went in with me told me she was impressed and that they love self initiate work.. Maybe not then 😂 I still haven't received a reply from Chelsea !! I think I'm going to firm Wimbledon as its the only other that specialises in fine art painting and also has smaller groups so you get more attention and space. Ahhh the whole thing has been such a stressful nightmare ! Glad it's finally over 😂

That's so weird! I wonder how they decide it? Like what is a yes or no in interviews etc. I had the same, we got on really well, I run my own fine art magazine and curate exhibitions regularly and they seemed really impressed with it. I'm a mature student which is another benefit, and all my work is very conceptual and self directed. I must have either said something stupid or they must not have liked my work. I'd like more feedback than 'interview didn't meet criteria'.

I've heard amazing things about Wimbledon in terms of campus, support, vibe etc etc. When was your Chelsea interview?

How did you guys receive the interview feedback was it directly from goldsmiths? Because I was notified via ucas that I've had an offer and I was completely expecting rejection so I'm really surprised. Also reading both of your responses you sound a lot more appropriate for the course than me (curating exhibitions already, running a magazine) so although I'm pleased with the offer, obviously, I'm also very confused because I don't feel good enough

Just via track which said 'interview did not meet requirements' no feedback really. You must be a really positive person with a great portfolio of work. Is any of it online so I can see it? I run www.paintbynumber.co.uk and my work is www.hannahprizeman.com

Well done on your Chelsea offer! Strange response from goldsmiths, I wonder whether all unsuccessful candidates got that response? I'm sure you did do well in your interview - the links you posted to your magazine certainly are impressive. There must just be a very fine line between a yes and no when faced with a lot of strong candidates.. Not sure what that is though ...

Congrats! I'm sure you're good- not easy to get an offer. I also was notified of my offer through ucas- no other info.
I'm surprised they let us know so soon tbh! I was expecting to find out in several weeks ...
Do you think you'll take it ?

That's so strange you would think they'd give you a little more information on their reasoning. I can't imagine why you wouldn't get an offer, your works amazing and the magazine is really impressive. I really like your Modernising Still Life piece! The work I took to my Goldsmiths interview was mostly different to that I'd taken to my other 4, just because it was so late after and I'd made a lot of new work between the interviews, so I haven't properly uploaded any of it online yet, I plan on uploading the rest of my portfolio work onto flickr soon as so I can pm you a link to that when I've done it if you'd like?

Thank you, congrats yourself!
Same!! I'd literally said to my mum a couple of days before "Oh it's been a week since my interview so at least I'll only have to wait another 2 max!"
I really don't know, to be honest. I'm pretty indecisive as a person anyway and although I really love the way the course is put together, and obviously Goldsmiths as a whole, I've heard a lot of negativity about their BA Fine Art course from tutors on fine art courses at other uni's who know students that went there/who went there themselves, saying that Goldsmiths no longer live up to their reputation and I'd be better of elsewhere, but that their MA still lives up to its reputation. At the same time, I would find it extremely difficult to turn down the opportunity so I'm really stuck. What about you?

I probably will take it. Yeah it has its negatives. I'm sure other art colleges have better tuition time and are probably more nurturing environments to help the students develop as artists. however I've heard good things from people on the course, and i think it will probably challenge me the most due to the high quality of student on the course. Plus I like how its quite academic and has good seminars/visiting artists

Yeah I see what you mean, I'm just gonna have to keep thinking about it, I guess
hiiii - received an offer yesterday, which i'll probably most likely firm... one of my main issues with the course is the lack of tutorials (from what ive gathered), of which there are around two a term with an assigned tutor by default; there is the option of booking out a few more with other tutors but this can only be done at the beginning of each term or weeks in advance?? having mentioned that, i know people currently on the course and they seem to be fairly positive about it
Congratulations on your offer!
In terms of the number of tutorials, I don't know why Goldsmiths are so keen to make it seem like you only get two tutorials a term. I think their intention is to hammer in that the course is very self-directed, but you actually have 7 tutorials a term (assuming you use the sign up opportunities). 2 one-to-one tutorials with your personal tutor, and 1 group tutorial (usually about 5 in a group), 1 individual and 1 group tutorial with another tutor in your assessment group, 1 sign up tutorial with another tutor and 1 sign up tutorial with another artist (you can sign up for more if slots are still available the next day).
They do tend to be scheduled at the start of term, but you can always contact your tutor for an impromptu tutorial if you're really struggling with something. Hope that makes you feel better about the tutorial situation though.
Hey, I got an offer for Goldsmiths BA Fine Art and that's where I'll be going (if I pass my Foundation course!)
Anyone else firmed there place? Wanted to make some friends who will be going too
Really surprised I got an offer, I don't feel good enough at all!

Ah congrats! Same, I was basically just rambling on about my work for half an hour! And the male interviewer told me he likes looking at breasts and asked me what's wrong with that (my work is mostly a criticism of pornography at the moment) and I rambled about how breasts aren't sex organs and shouldn't be hypersexualised. It was so difficult and I got some hard questions that I thought I answered really badly. But I must've done okay!

Do you have Instagram or anything? I'll follow you! Would be interesting to see other people's work :-)
