I heard it's pretty common in European countries for girls to pay 50% of the bill. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not usually, as men pay for most things in a relationship. But, if they do, that signals that they are not only there because of money, which is quite important to me.

I would definitely pay for myself on a date and I know many other girls that would too. So I have no idea why guys make this whole paying fot dates thing a problem.

No, I wouldn't expect him to unless he told me upfront before the date or as soon as the date started that he was going to, though I would rather we just split the bill
