Accommodation Woes...

Hey everyone!
So I'll be coming to Loughborough in September and I'm worried about where to live. I'm really not a party person and I love nothing more than quiet nights in and prefer to have my own space to concentrate on work. Thus, I'd love a studio flat and I'm interested at those at Kingfisher Halls and Optima Fresh Student Living (both private halls).

However, I realise the social boundaries having a studio flat might create. I want to be comfortable where I live and I wouldn't be very comfortable in shared facility halls - but I don't want to be left out or struggle to make friends. Will this happen? I plan on attending societies and socialising in my class, will that be enough?

Thanks,
A very anxious person~

Hey bulbasaur1

Firstly, great to hear that you're coming to Loughborough

Your concerns are completely understandable. We totally appreciate that everyone is different and so we offer a range of accommodation options, including the option to request a quiet room. Our Accommodation Team will then place you with like-minded students, with the understanding that noise will be kept to a minimum after 11pm. Each of our student rooms has a study desk and so you'll have your own space to focus on your work. If you're worried about using shared facilities, there's the option of en-suite rooms. If you'd like to chat to our Accommodation Team, you can give them a call on 01509 222258 or email them at [email protected].
If you choose to go with one of the private halls you mention, the Students' Union will be able to affiliate you to a hall and you'll be able to join their socials whenever you wish to.

And you're absolutely right - no matter which accommodation you choose, there are loads of societies to choose from (here's a list!) where you'll be able to meet others who share your interests.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any more questions about accommodation or life at Loughborough more generally
