1.

An ancient druid tribe built 100 seats in a circle round their new altarfor their first May Day celebrations. For the following May Day, theybuilt another ring of 110 seats round the first ring. They built a furtherring of 120 seats round that for the following year, and so on.

2.

(a) Find the total number of seats round the altar for the nth May Day

1st May Day: 100

2nd May Day: 110

3rd May day: 120

4th May day: 130

heard of an arithmetic sequence? un=a+(n1)du_n = a + (n-1)d where nn is the nth term, aa is the first term, and d is the common difference.
