yeah but come on, that's taking the religion word for word. that's why muslims don't kill gays any more, right? I thought modern muslims were "liberal"?

no it's very clearly stated, do not even come close to zina.
it is not a ruling that is telling you to do things to other people, it is a ruling upon yourself.

also, if I was with a man long term I would definitely want him to marry me.

I find it offensive that you are trying to pull me away from my religion.

I am beginning to understand why women in islam aren't allowed to marry men of a different religion. If a man I actually liked coersed me like that I would find it very hard not to listen to him even if he was wrong.

I knew a Pakistani woman who got married to an Egyptian man. They got divorced after a year because he never worked and spent all her money on porn and sex chat websites :indiff:

This has actually happened to a family friend of ours. I wouldn't say it as a joke.
He moved back to Egypt and lives with his parents and she still works in Saudi Arabia.

I am disappointed that this is even a question / on the agenda. I am Finnish from a white Christian background and to be honest I would sure marry Middle Eastern person.

You are open minded, which is great but my question was directed towards Pakistanis as a lot of the ones I've met are quite conservative and prefer to marry from their ethnic background. But even within their background they have subgroups known as cast system. It's heavily instilled in their culture so I wondered how they view Arab girls but I'm surprised with the positive replies on this thread.

Putting ethnicity aside, they really still have the cast system? Wait a minute. This is quite confusing.

I thought Islam specifically outlaws the concept of cast system and this is why conversions to Islam were popular in India for Hindus to escape that cast system. Is that not the case?

I mean even India outlaws its cast system nowadays and has positive discrimination laws / affirmative action laws for the lower casts. Could you please explain how/why the Pakistanis still have them?

Do you realise how restraining this is for economic and social development?
The way you talk about him is acc too cute I can't:h:

Pakistani girl here btw

As long as your man's a good muslim who loves and respects you why should anything else matter?

And personally I wouldn't mind an arab guy as long as I'm his only wife:biggrin:

jk sorry was that mean:s-smilie:but for real if he follows his religion and there's real love, respect and all that then it's calm so yeah

Lol pls tell me you're joking 😂 why would my parents object?! If anything my mum prefers me to marry a Pakistani over an Arab. She thinks most Arab men will have multiple wives whereas Pakistanis are hard working and are loyal to their wife.

Dad on the other hand gives me the green light if I'm happy to wear shalwar kamis, cook spicy biryani and make round roti but tbh I can't eat anything spicy :frown: and I don't know how much of a big deal that is lol

Spoiler

:lolwut: That doesn't matter as long as you BOTH like each other.
I'm starting to suspect a :troll2: but either way it could also be argued
that say if a Pakistani girl  a Arab guy but who doesn't like to ohib asrab narjeeleh for example may be a problem for some arabs etc.

You are right, islam has nothing to do with the cast system, in fact it encourages us to spread out and get to know people from different cultures. However South Asians tend to be quite cultural which can clash with religion. Cast system is pretty much an Indian cultural aspect but Pakistan and India used to be one country sharing the same language, food, music ect so there has been some sort of cultural influence despite the religious difference. Those who were born and brought up in the uk are more open, but the families interfere quite a lot. I feel that it will eventually die down as generations pass.

You would think it would be gone with Islam but no. They just converted but they retained their old castes :/
Pakistanis and Indian Muslims have many castes that can still relate to the Hindu equivalent.

Family are Lebanese, they are religious. We're just not cultural or care what people think as long is it is right in the eyes of God.

Lebanese women ufff they are 2 beautiful !
Original post by BigBabyJesus
why even that though? I'm not religious and I'd marry a (liberal) muslim - wouldn't you marry at least a non-muslim if they believed in the same things generally as you? surely you should be more socially-tolerant and not discriminate so unfairly? I'm not accounting for family discipline here purposefully because I think it's insane to go out with somebody or not if your parents green-light it, as if their opinion should stop you from being free and doing what you want with your life. parents should be supportive, not restrictive.

What's a liberal Muslim? :erm:

It's not even about it being my parents opinion or being socially tolerant, it's about my choice in life. With this matter I wouldn't let my parents intervene, it is a big deal and I would want to make this decision myself. I believe religion is a bit part of a relationship, I know in the long-term differences arise which would result in friction between the two, so to prevent that I wouldn't consider a non-Muslim. Also for a female to marry a non-Muslim is not accepted in Islam.

Anyways, this is kind of derailing the thread as this is all based on interracial marriages.
Why are Pakistanis crazy about Arab girls?
hmmm?
