Most young Arabs against ISIS

The title of the article could be rephrased as

More than 1/5 of young arabs support the Islamic state.

Still shocking.

The others 4/5 support Al qaeda or hezbollah maybe?

Is a poll really necessary to prove this. It's common sense that everyone in the world is against ISIS apart from a few radicalised individuals here and there.

I think it's a good thing, because the New Right (eg, repackaged Nazis) across Europe are all claiming that Muslims generally support IS and terrorism. This contradicts that claim.

No it doesn't. You used 'eg' in an improper manner, and even if taken at face value saying only 20% of Muslims support ISIS is probably going to precipitate/encourage apprehension about the Muslim/ISIS issue. It's a significant number.
It's interesting also to compare with the take the Jerusalem Post has on the survey.

Those questions really don't tell us much. Whether young Arabs think the IS will ultimately establish their 'caliphate' doesn't tell us much about their feelings about IS and their values (and possible convergence therein) etc.

It does show that 78% don't support the IS (if they wouldn't support them if they use less violence we can conclude that they do not currently support them, and never feasibly would), but the flip-side of that is that over a fifth (22%) either would support them if they didn't use as much violence, or can't say that they wouldn't.

So it doesn't tell us what % of young Arabs actually have sympathies for the IS, but indicates something in the 10-20% region, which is worrying. Especially as young Arabs are supposed to be more liberal than their older counterparts, if 13-22% of young Arabs support the IS, then what % of total Arabs support the IS? Worrying.

True. It's appalling though that people can think that. But I guess they need a scapegoat and something to do in their free time.

In fairness, the poll doesn't say that 13-22% of young Arabs do support the IS, it just says that 13% of young Arabs would support the IS if they were less violent, and a further 9% cannot say they wouldn't.

Anything else is just an inference, because, as I mentioned above, the poll's questions were very flawed as a means of finding out the feelings of young Arabs on the IS.

No offence, but why is this news to you? It's already been well established that the vast majority of the Arab world is against ISIS. Heck, even the al-Nusra Front is fighting them. If there's one thing ISIS is definitely lacking, it's friends.
The point is, the article shows attitudes in the middle east are changing. It wont be long before muslims conform to western beliefs. Those who disagree are those who just want to continue the argument.

Over 15,000 jihadists from across the world have joined the IS (more so joined the region to fight with other extremists groups, such as al-Nusra), including over 2500 from Saudi Arabia and over 3000 from Tunisia.

15,000 isn't even *absolutely* a big number for a state's army, let alone *relatively*.

IS have over 100,000 fighters in total (some estimate up to 250,000), that 15,000 was just how many foreign fighters they have.

Ergo a pretty big army.
