Anyone do No Fap?

Do any men here do No Fap? I'm looking for an accountability partner.
I hit day 125 or so and relapsed and just can't get going again. Quitting masturbation and pornography is extremely difficult.

If anyone is interested in why I quit porn here are some Ted X talks and websites links. Porn is actually extremely harmful and most blokes don't even know it. Its like the tobacco industry in 1950s in America, most people smoked and it was recommended by doctors and then gradually the 2 and 2 were put together and the effects of tobacco were recognised. High speed internet porn has only existed for 15 years or so and similar to tobacco as research starts to grow its difficult to deny what is going on.

Basically brain thinks women on screen are real and it produces un-natural amounts of dopamine. It thinks you've hit the evolutionary jackpot and fires you up to mate with these women. Brain can't handle this over a period of time and re-wires the brain such as cutting down dopamine receptors. This numbs the brain so you end up watching more hardcore stuff as you progress. Its amazing how quick go from page 3 girls to watching ****ed up stuff and stuff that doesn't necessary represent sexuality. Porn hijacks your the reward circuit of your brain similar to drugs do. The tube sites are like the crack cocaine of porn. Porn generally causes lack of confidence, anxiety, depression, less motivation generally and to get women - why buy a girl dinner if you can just watch 10/10 on HD videos? Girls can reject you but porn won't. And of course erectile dysfunction.

What is an accountability partner?
People who hold each other accountable for their sexual habits. Swap contact information and check in with each other every day to mutually provide support for reaching their goals

Have you looked for a no fap support group anywhere else?
I'm not sure you'll be able to find an accountability partner on here though

Good luck! I support your cause :h:

Y'know, you can fap without porn...

Just run your foot over with a car and be done with it. Probably less painful too.

No Fap is also about semen retention too which has many benefits as well
Besides 2 days later will go back to it
Porn isn't a regular thing for me, so i can't see it having any of those harmful effects. Quitting masturbation seems a bit much, but if you feel happier and more content, go for it.
I do nofap, just keep reading the threads on r/nofap. I also have an 'accountability partner'
'Porn is extremely harmful'

been watching porn for 17 years and np
(edited 8 years ago)
I tried doing it before, I think I got to around 14 days or something.

I bizarrely found that it sent my mood all over the place and when my mood plummeted on day 12 i was like nopee not worth it.

Its also meant to be about focusing your energy and being more productive. I don't personally subscribe to its philosophy, but some people claim to have really good life improvements because of it.

OP I think you might find more support on the reddit page, with people who are going through the same thing. But I would say think about why you started in the first place and the benefits you've felt. Good luck.

How far have you gone yet? It took me 9 months to go 125 days then relapsed during mid-terms

8 years for me and that's what I thought. But I gave it ago and realised I was addicted to it - addicted to the dopamine rush not the masturbation part as I couldn't really relapse without it. I have experienced lots of benefits on no fap - happiness increased, as did motivation to go to gym, study, socialise, talk to women, hold eye contact, and confidence -has improved. I relapsed and felt terrible since and many benefits have gone. You should try it for 28 days got nothing to lose mate

Hmm how did you go from porn being bad to masturbation being bad? I can see what you mean about there being a lot problems with mainstream porn (including how messed up the industry itself probably is) but you haven't said anything about what you think is wrong with masturbating?

Not judging, just honestly curious ☺️

Also the 'accountability partner' thing sounds like a pretty sexual relationship in itself lol.

But good luck I guess? x

Yeah that's withdrawal symptoms though. Nothing happened to me until day 40 (took 4 months to get to it) then flat lined felt terrible and got benefits back stronger at day 65. Its a long term game cos tho. Problem is we're all used to instant gratification such as porn and give up easily
