Cenk Uygur arrested

TYT Host Cenk’ Uygur Reportedly Arrested in Washington DC at Democracy Spring Event

Cenk before arrested : " I’m risking arrest today at our nation’s capital because our representatives don’t represent us anymore. We have asked them to take action countless times to get money out of politics. We want something very simple restore free and fair elections. Because of their inaction we take action today. It is obvious that Congress is awash in corruption. Today we begin civil disobedience against that corruption."

Protesting to remove the money out of politics seems pointless. Especially in the US. What possible good would these protests achieve? Nothing.

Politics is based on fear and interests. No one is going to care about protesting unless it creates or disrupts one of these two things.

Protesting is a waste of time.

These protests make zero difference. They get the voices out there, but they change nothing. They achieve nothing. This guy from TYT got arrested for nothing.

Agreed, it annoys me when people cite Gandhi as an example. Gandhi disrupted trade ffs.

Go hijack a merchant ship and then put your banners up, you might get somewhere.

I'm not even sure how they could make a viable and legal protest that could significantly change the situation of money in politics. Standing in a street holding signs isn't it though.

I've gone off The Young Turks. I used to watch them all the time about five/six years ago, but though they've expanded they've remained very liberal, perhaps becoming more so. And I think my political opinions have changed. I find I don't agree with them nearly as much. I still watch their content, and it's impressive how they've grown, but I don't think it's anything like it once was.
Ana Kasparian is the best thing about the Young Turks.

Cenk just drives me crazy whenever I hear him say anything. Kara is someone who tries to at least address real concerns. While I might disagree with her on several points, her intelligence and insight does the show credit.

Cenk is just the left's version of Glenn Beck.
I watch it because I find Ana and Cenks relationship pleasant to watch. Kind of like an extremely softcore IR porno. However their political persuasions are quite childish where they perpetually paint the establishment as evil and everyone else as victims.

Indeed. Ana won't stop alluding to the patriarchy, and Cenk will keep reminding us how he was a victim of the 'evil white man'.

I used to quite like the Young Turks. But in recent years I've found them annoying and superficial, particularly their hatred of New Atheists like Sam Harris (who they are happy to slander and deliberately misinterpret his words) and also their illogical and emotional anti-Israel stance

I agree. I still quite like Ana, she seems more reasonable than Cenk and I always enjoy her commentary on social issues
Wasn't it the Young Turks responsible for the Armenian genocide? and they're ultra-leftists who find Washington red skins so offensive.

Man you don't even know the half of it, the way they completely misrepresent stories. I can't believe people have ever seen TYT as 'news'. Look at how they treated Ben Shapiro. This is the original clip.

And this is the TYT interpretation of it:

Interesting, I'm just watching that now.

Personally, I'm not entirely sure what it supposed to be so courageous about Caitlyn Jenner. She is an extremely wealthy white person in the West who always would have had a supportive media for her coming out.

She also killed someone in a car crash, and is now suing one of the victims. She sounds like a typical entitled rich brat from the Los Angeles upper class. The "awards" she's been given stink of the usual Hollywood self-congratulation.

There are indeed brave transgender people, but you're more likely to find them in Saudi Arabia or Iran than in the Hollywood Hills. And it's ludicrous that they treat her as some kind of pioneer; maybe if she came out 15 years ago, but in 2015? It was a decision without any cost, thus there's nothing courageous about it

NO
tyt represents all my values.

I recommend everyone check out the Rubin Report - I believe the show used to be associated with the Young Turks network but has gone with another network since.
