The viable interpretations don't have to be that good. Like you can literally chat out of your ass and if it's somewhat relevant, then you'll gain marks.

If I did that, I think my analyses would be something like 'the word 'happy' implies that this character is not melancholy'

That makes sense, except I've got to somehow come up with viable interpretations, which I really, really can't do.

in my mock i said that the poem was implying that it's not actually a poem
and it was marked right
you really don't have to make sense as long as you pretend you do

Tips for English Lit?

For English Lit, use Bitesize to take your notes, also you need to be able to make some good interpretations... i.e. if it says 'clay' in a war poem or something: you can bring religious things into it i.e.: first man was created by clay according to the Christian religion... this suggests that we are destroying the purpose of life...

Most of the time, you can literally chat out of your ass... you will gain marks if it's even slightly relevant. All i can say is that make sure you have a few notes for each story/poem so when you go into exam, you can use those quotes even if the question is different (just change your analysis a bit to make it a little relevant)... apart from that... look at other student's notes and take down any perceptive ones....
enjoy!

just get a random quote and try to sway it into your work... trust me... for example:

Tom wore a red dress

the fact that he wore the colour red shows love... but can also indicate danger, blood and death. (which is good) Dress also has indications of being wrapped up and therefore suffocating... (which is total ******** but somewhat makes sense)

I dont do inspector calls...

For of mice and men, make sure you know every single detail about ever character... once again, it is like the other... make relevant points and you gain marks.. But like i said, make sure you know everything about each character, especially Carlson and Slim (Carlson has never come up yet).
