Hi all!
I live about 30 minutes from Norwich but it is my nearest city and the place I would say I grew up in. I can vouch that it is a really lovely city. Incredibly safe, I have walked around the city centre at all hours and never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. There are some nice clubs in the city to suit a variety of music tastes from house to charts music, hip hop and jungle, including things such as the BUNK nights collective which is run by a group of lads a couple of years older than me who rent out the crypts beneath the city for music nights.

Norwich is a very upcoming city right now with lots of self made art collectives including SHhhh who are quite renowned nationally and Moosey Art, a small contemporary gallery run by local art enthusiasts. New art initiatives are popping up left right and centre so it is a really exciting city to get involved in from an artistic front too!

Also it is a very pretty city, with local beauty spots such as the Secret Gardens (aka the Plantation Garden) a secluded three acre gothic style landscaped garden incredibly well hidden on the edge of the city centre, a great place to explore and chill in the sunshine!

If anyone has any questions about Norwich from the viewpoint of local dont hesitate to ask!

"You will get bored of Norwich very quickly"

"Norwich is so dead, why did I come to uni here"

"People should only come to Norwich for uni as a punishment for wrongs they did in a past life"

"I wouldn't even wish going to uni in Norwich on my worst enemy"

Whats your opinion on these tweets I found from Norwich students? These where the most recent tweets when I searched 'norwich' on twitter :s-smilie:
(Last 3 are from the same person)

Also, what hip hop clubs are there?

A bit late to this thread, but i have firmed norwich for visual effects. I am looking forward to september and hope to move into all saints green.

NUA is specialist to the creative industries. So i think for my course its a positive as they have many industry guests throughout the year. It can be a downside since there will not be as many clubs/sports teams as most bigger universitys.

Very very late to this thread! I'm going to start my course; film and moving image production in September 😊 I firmed it pretty much straight after my offer and couldn't quite believe my luck as Norwich was my first choice!
I cannot wait, I'm hoping to live at all Saints Green as an accommodation and I'm really looking forward to living there, my course and the club life - the whole environment there seems friendly and safe but also magical and adventurous.

I hope to see some of you there!

I'm trying to decide between these two places aswell, any luck??

Sorry I just saw this and realised it's to me haha! I'm still having a super hard time deciding as both have their pros and cons, so I'm completely stuck:s-smilie:. Have you had any luck deciding at all?

I think it depends what you expect from Norwich before arriving in all honestly. If you want a 'city that never sleeps' sort of feel then Norwich probably isn't for you. I love the city because you can stand in the centre and feel like you are in a bustling hub full of tourists, commutors, students and shoppers alike then walk for 15-20 minutes and you can be stood in beautiful areas of woodland and wild spaces such as Mousehold Heath/Forest, the best of both worlds in my opinion. The nightlife has definitely taken a hit over the past year with lots of closures but gentrification is a part of any city lifestyle unfortunately.

There is less in the way of specifically dedicated clubs in Norwich nowadays (since the closure of Hideout, R.I.P) and more collectives which run a certain type of event across the variety of venues in the city, such as Tropico and BUNK which I mentioned earlier. Bass Matters ran what was apparently a very succesful hip hop night in the Bedfords crypts under the city a week ago, and Epic Studios have hosted several high focus nights as well with the Four Owls and Dirty Dike in the past to name names. We had Dead Players here a few weeks ago as well. Warrior Jungle also host great ragga dnb and jungle nights, the last of which was 4 days ago at Karma Cafe.

I'm not a city kid by birth, so maybe that is the reason why Norwich is such a perfect city for me as it both has the events, amenities and resources I like but doesn't feel like you are trapped in a concrete jungle either. It's a very cute city overall, plus in a practical sense there is a massive upward movement in art happening across the city right now, which could be a really great enviroment to start building an artistic career in. I hope that helps? Let me know if you need anything else!

Hi, thanks for starting this thread
I've firmed NUA Animation. Will probably be staying at Beechcroft as I won't quite be 18 when the year starts, but it's not a problem. I loved Norwich when we looked round & chose it over Herts & Bournemouth as its got such a great feel to it. Have just joined the FB group too. Not too long to go now!

well i still put all saints as my first choice then beechcroft then harvard court. but i put all en suites at each location as my top three choices. what about you?

and another thing i dont like about all saints is the tenancy agreement. the summer term for nua ends on the 30th june but the agreement ends on the 17th july and even if you move back home before the 17th you still have to pay rent :s-smilie:
