Didn't you say you hated it and wanted to move to the Gulf or was that someone else?

No, I said I hated everywhere in England except London. Read my post again.

Yessir ain't no shame in loving your home

Never said there wasn't. However you can compare it to nothing. I genuinely feel sorry for you for being raised in London and only knowing London. I've seen these types of British people before and they become doctrined into a certain mentality. Anwyays, whatever I guess if you are happy that's all that matters.

Fair enough, I mean I've always loved London for all its quirks but I see your point about only knowing London and nowhere else. Tbh tho it's getting more and more expensive which I hate so I might have to move out in a few years anyway because I won't be able to afford rent.
i've noticed it too. I love london and for a long portion of my life could not imagine leaving this wonderful city. But seeing how people live in UAE/Qatar, it just seems surreal - stress free and in a bubble while in London it feels like I can't ever just slow down and enjoy life. I want to get out of this country not because I hate it - far from that, but rather because I want to at least experience that "bubble" life.

I'm guessing you're not a big fan then, whereabouts are you from?

There is a difference between a healthy presence and a majority. The way of England TODAY, is that more and more immigration is becoming a serious problem not just for cultural reasons but also because we are a small country and don't have the resources to cope with 300,000 net immigration per year for example. It's not about race I don't give a **** if someone blue black yellow or purple lives here and I think only people who care about the race of people living here are racists who support parties such as the BNP. Yet, England is losing control at the minute and in 20 years or so will be a very different and worse place without intervention. I oppose mass immigration from whoever the **** or wherever the ****, at the expense of British people (black/white/asian) and British values/way of life. I especially oppose it when they come her for economic reasons or want to impose their religious beliefs, none of which buys into this country and its people. What is racist about that? And yes in what is a traditionally white British country - I expect to see a significant amount of white British people here but that is NOT the case in London and many segregated parts of England such as Bradford and Luton, where it is 90% dominated by specific culutures such as Muslims. That in itself worries me, because that means that the face of Britain is changing in a significant way, and not necessarily for the better. NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE BEING THE ISSUE IN ITSELF. I don't care if someone black ,asian, Japanese or Polish lives here. But contribute, buy and add to the country, don't come here and treat it like it's here to serve you and your needs.

RE, Middlesbrough it's becoming silly now. I was saying that clearly some of these 600,000 will have moved to 'poor' towns and you implied they weren't willing to move to poorer London areas. You still haven't been able to explain this and align it with your theory.

Those two statements contradict each other. FYI I do not have "my own people" living in London. In case you haven't noticed Black people come from a variety of cultures as well and if you can't relate to Polish culture, how on Earth would I be able to relate to all of the various cultures of London's Black residents? You do not even know my background; I do not identify with any culture in particular and am westernised more than anything. So who exactly are "my people"? But unlike some, I see people as opposed to race, nationality and religion so I can be happy wherever I live be that London, Cardiff or Newcastle.

Most immigration today comes from EU countries due to the free movement of persons legislation. It is has become very difficult for people outside of the EU to migrate here for economic purposes in the recent year so no, we don't have "MASS IMMIGRATION FROM EVERYWHERE". By the way your Bradford and Luton demographics are all wrong.

I cited two reasons (there would be more) why people move out of London. The ones moving to poorer towns probably could no longer afford it but there are others who do it for a better living standard rather than living in a tiny one bedroom flat for £2k rent per month. For an example my mum moved out of London because she could buy a better house for a cheaper price in the Midlands.
I was happy until I started reading this thread.

Talk about doom and gloom.

There is a bizarre self-loathing that the liberal middle class push onto everyday British people via the BBC, TV and newspapers. You'd think it was the UK that committed all the atrocities of the Second World War the way people go on about how terrible we all are. If the country ever is doing well then there always has to be a negative spin on it.No one is ever satisfied, infact there are plenty of people who won't let us be satisfied until we have a national day of sorrow for all the terrible things Britain has done, until we change the Union Jack to represent multiculturalism, give away everything in the British Museum, have Islam as one of several national religions and accept that we're all secretly racist.

Maybe the reason people are so unhappy is because we are constantly being told that it's wrong for us to be content with ourselves and our own customs.

Has anyone realised? I don't know about you but when I've been abroad I have always noticed a vast difference between England and these other countries. These other countries I have been to be it, Australia, Singapore or Indonesia or as west as USA or more centrally with the likes of Spain and Italy - they all have a more identifiable culture and one which everyone buys into. They might not be the richest in the world, they might have economic problems in some countries, but they are happier as people. I don't know if there's a correlation between great weather and a slower pace of life like in a number of those countries I mentioned, and a happier existence. Everyone buys into the country, the culture and way of life. There's a stronger sense of purpose, unity and spirit.

I can't help but feel personally very unhappy in England as an Englishmen. I also can't help but feel that this country and the people here are very unhappy. My personal opinions about this range from mass immigration, to the growing ascent of Islam to things about this country such as the weather, the 24/7 way of working life in these modern times, greater pressures and economic issues from housing to health, to the rise in technology and consumerism and materialism in this economically developed country with everything on its doorstep. I just think the traditions and heritage of this country is being eroded and lots of people are unhappy, Brits and non-Brits. Lots of Brits are worried about the state of this country and where it's going. I look at immigrants who come here from Eastern Europe and working in cafes or as cleaners and wondering how they can wake up every day and be happy ... they aren't. I look at Muslims and think they can't be happy either, they don't look it. They obviously don't feel comfortable with their status in the UK on a wider level, however it's not our duty to accept them for who they are and if anything it should be the other way around. But this is a growing problem in England today, the dissipating British way of life while the mass influx of new cultures and people come to the UK without assimilating into British culture.

Then there's the economic side of this country. We are kind of too spoiled. We are one of the greatest most developed countries on this planet and are very lucky to have the opportunity to have what we have, comparatively to the world. Maybe we have too much too easy and don't make the effort? We just take things for granted. Our country is colder not just literally, but as people. We don't value family like they do in other countries and culture. Heck even America is better than here, I lived there for a year. Everyone flies the American flag there, everyone considers themself American and buys into the country. It's a different feeling alltogether.

I can't help but feel England is going nowhere and everyone is thoroughly unhappy. I'm actually considering moving out of England because it's such an unhappy life here. I spent 3 weeks in Australia and it was a breathtaking experience. Everybody happy, smiling, stupendously good weather, beautiful beaches, such a chilled and relaxed laid back culture and more than that everyone buying into the Australian way of life. No opposition, no clashes.. just Australian. It was amazing and a really peaceful and happy experience. I left there feeling really sad .. I could not believe how happy I felt as a person and it made me realise just how much I have missed out on in life by not being from a country such as that. I'd take it every day of the week over being raised in England and being an Englishmen.

Thoughts?

C'mon, you don't really need to bash the UK so negatively compared with other countries.... Stop with the propaganda wacko stuff and UK bashing please...

If you want to be in the UK, don't be so negative towards it. If you intend on bashing the UK all the time, then the UK is not for you.

Nothing contradicting at all. Like if you go to Singapore, the majority of people are traditional Singaporeans yet there are still a minority of migrants there. Or like if you do the same with Australia, or Spain etc Nothing wrong, contradicting or racist about that at all. Ironically Singapore and Australia are examples of successful blueprints of what we should be aspiring to.

Was born here but was fortunate to have moved around significantly both within England and outside. Opened my mind and saw the light.

Great post. I said this about the flag before and someone said when did people oppose it? Seriously we have been to feel as if we should be ashamed of who we are and that we are inherently racist. I suspect WBZ144 or whatever she's called has nothing to say on your comments.
You people whine far too much considering you live in one of the wealthiest, most diverse, most innovative countries on the face of the earth. Would you rather have been born in Bangladesh where over 80% of its inhabitants live off of $2 a day? For gods sake, learn to appreciate what you have and stop crying over how racially diverse or gloomy the ****ing weather is.
Original post by Parx
No we don't. Our culture does not exist here anymore, at least not in major cities with significant % minorities living in the vicinity.

Didn't I literally just say that you could see the racial diversity as a part of our culture? Embracing individuality is a part of our Western values so I'm not sure why many people insist that all the minorities violate our culture, as opposed to enriching it.

Singapore itself is pretty diverse. Chinese make up the majority of the population there are they are around 74% of the population (less than Whites here) even though they aren't the indigenous population but of course you will see what you want to see. Australia itself is a nation of migrants and the Aborigines are the native population there.

Because coming here in large swathes, they realise the opportunity to abuse that enriching and take out of the system what they can giving little back, perhaps? Look at Sweden.

Have you been to Singapore? I was there for 3 months and I can safely say that the large majority of people there are Singaporeans. Sorry, you fail again.

And being there for 3 months, were you unable to tell the difference between the Chinese and Malays? Yes they are all Singaporean, the same way that there are Whites, Blacks and Indians who are all Brits but the Malays are the indigenous population and they are the minority. The majority immigrated from China and some from India (although less).
