@Protoxylic hey, I remember you from last year! Will you be putting up the unofficial mark scheme this year?

Unfortunately not, sorry. I'd imagine somebody else would.

How much of the syllabus has everyone covered so far?

Where can I access old AQA Physics spec papers and mark schemes. Unit codes: PA02, PA04 and PHY8/W?

Scroll down and click Physics and it should be there.
One thing I don't get about the time constant in the capacitors topic - I know that the time constant is the time taken for the charge on a discharging capacitor to fall to 37% (RC = 0.37 = e^-1), but why is this such a significant number? Like, what does this even represent?

The text books don't explain this to me

The time constant is the time it takes for the capitator's charge to drop by 37%. This value is always equal to the capacitance x resistance

Is anyone struggling with EM induction?? :s-smilie:
How has everybody revised for this, have you made notes or have u done a ton of past papers since the questions repeat?

Yep, they've been attached

Do you or anyone have the June 2015 empa papers (phya6x) with mark scheme. I'll give rep

Our teacher usually asks us to 'Describe an experiment to determine....' in his tests, and I suspect that these are past exam questions. Though I haven't yet looked at any past papers so I couldn't say for sure.

I think we could be asked to describe an experiment as a high mark question (4+) in the exam

Won't they only ask about the required practicals, for this year? Are those the only practicals that can come up in the exam?
Can someone direct me to the PA04 Jan 2008 Paper B? I can't find it

Anyone got the 2015 paper for this unit and unit 5?

Can anyone explain the differences between electric potential and electrical potential Energy

I get confused between potential and potential energy, I cant get my head around it. Any help appreciated, thanks

Electric potential is a property just of a field itself, whereas electric potential energy is a combined property of a field, a charge, and its position.

You should know that the electrical potential energy E is equal to the charge Q times the potential V. The potential is, if you like, a more general form of energy - if you find it for a point in a field, then you can find the electrical potential energy for any charge at that point without much trouble at all.

I've probably just made it even less clear :-P
