You could rearrange to 10x^1/2=x+9 and square both sides.
Or let k=x^1/2 and get a quadratic in k.
Or just solve it like it is above as a quadratic in x^1/2
let y=x12 y = x^\frac{1}{2}
so, 10yy29=0 10y - y^2 -9 = 0

And go from there.

let y=x^(1/2)

therefore, 10y -y^2 -9,

= -y^2 +10y -9

=???

gonna catch a lesson
