Labour caught lying (again)

So, Labour in Peterborough printed out leaflets for Polish people in Polish (in itself rather stupid and slightly offensive- because it is obvious thing that Poles speak no English!), but there was "mistranslation" of it. By mistranslation I mean: something totally different. Apart from fact, that it was translated using google translator which resulted in something that could hardly be called Polish, but also the last point ("Child care extension and affordable housing") was "translated" as: "Great Britain will stay within the EU".

It's another reason why I would never vote Labour- apart from insane economy programme they also treat people (especially immigrants) like handicapped morons.

It's a nice touch, mingling with the locals.

Similar to how people get tattoos in foreign languages when on holiday, and it ends being spelt "chicken wings" or "window" or "dog shite".

Of course, that is more permanent than a piece of paper.
You would never support Labour because they made one bad decision?

Which party do you intend to join again?

It's reasonable for them to have printed such information in Polish, given that you are right they might speak English, but they almost certainly speak Polish, sounds clever to me.

If they were clever they would have hired one of them to write the thing in the first place.

Imho all parties lie.
They just take it in turns.
They printed it as a bullet point under a heading entitled "THE LABOUR PARTY - Wsparice Partiu" which(according to Google Translate) translates to "THE LABOUR PARTY - Support Batch".

Staying in the EU is a position they support officially so I fail to see how they're lying. I'm guessing(not being a Polish speaker) that the meaning of the heading is lost in its literal translation.

It's pointless picking on a particular party for lying, they're all lying bastards

Now that is really getting down to the nitty gritty! Talk about micro-management!

Ignoring the content of the leaflets, I have to ask you one question.

Why is them printing leaflets in Polish such a bad thing?

Of course there are huge numbers of Poles in this country who speak good English but there are also a huge number who either don't speak any or who speak very limited English. Why is it such a bad thing to try and make this kind of information more accessible to them?

That is easy to answer. Any significant activity to help non-English speakers who live here (rather than tourist and business visitors) acts as a disincentive to them to learn the language and to fully integrate. They are consequently likely to be slower to do so.
You don;t support labour because you are a bit of a xenophobe.

Go to any western European country and they will have tourist leaflets, menus and books etc in English as well as their local languages. I knew a Danish girl who was over hear learning english so she could study chemistry back home where the textbooks and course is in English. English speaking natives who complain about a mix of languages coexisting in their country are so incredibly entitled and whiny when you look at how prevalent their native language is around the world.

This is what the future is going to look like. Grow up.

If they want to integrate and contribute to this society we have to encourage them to learn English. We need social cohesion not lots of different language blocs.

Look at the problems different language blocs cause in Canada, Switzerland and Belgium, for example.

AND it is win win because they benefit from being made to learn the most important language in the world.

That is leaving aside the cost savings...

The Poles do learn English. All of the ones I've met have anyway.

I'll admit I felt like an idiot last time I went abroad, relying on a Swede and an Austrian to translate from French to English for me.

Labour treat all working class people like handicapped morons. That's why they only trust the working class to live within a welfare trap instead of allowing them the conditions to become self-sufficient

Try living in Germany. Most forms for banks, housing, phone contracts, tax etc (ie stuff required to actually live somewhere as opposed to visit, which from your post you obviously haven't picked up on) are in German only. UK is actually well ahead of the curve with sort of thing, which is good because not everybody is going to be fluent fresh off the boat. Integration is never instant and people should be helped at first in reasonable ways such as this.

Having said that....."you don't support labour because you're a bit of a xenophobe." lol. Probably one of the most childish and delusional Labour-type statement I've read. In a nut shell the attitude why Labour are lightyears away from getting anywhere near power.

It's because they're now run by North London Socialists who are oblivious to the real world. They used to be the party of the ordinary working person.

However I'd still never vote Tory.

I'm no lover of the Tories either man but reality is what it is. Labour is meant to be the party of the working person. The clue is in the name. But times change right?
