Hey @brainzistheword
I've got a really quick question about English Lit. You know for Poetry, are the poetry's in the exam from the Anthology or are they random one? Also, how are you revising for Poetry ?
Thank you

I know I'm the wrong person but I think I can help(assuming our exam boards work the same), my poetry exam consists of two questions. The first is a comparative question about two poems in the anthology, you get to choose between two questions and a different poem is named in each and you can pick what poem you compare it to. The second is a shorter response about an unseen poem (but they are a lot simpler and easier to understand than the poems in the anthology).
Hope I could help!

And I started revising two days ago so I've been trying different ways and I think your main option is mind mapping, however I find this quite limiting so I'm currently reading over my notes, and using YouTube videos to create revision cards. I think poetry is quite instinctual though, it tends to come on the day so I think technique is probably more important than revising the poems for a lot of people. But there is a good YouTube channel that I can't remember the name of but his videos are all around 15 minutes and he uses FLIRTS (not that I knew what this was) but I think he's usually the second result when you search the poem on YouTube.

Hey Nisha,

They are random I believe, and we don't know what will come up. I've not really started revising for it but brushing up on key terms would be useful and then annotating random poems from the internet would be a good idea

Yeh that's what i'm doing

oh okay  God I could help somewhat, what's the point in studying an anthology then? Was that for a controlled assessment?

Well done the both of you, you're so committed to your studies

Thank you, you are too!
This is wjat i want to get done this evening:
Cs controlled assessment
English homework, poem comparative
Maths: online revision
And hopefully some other stuff like geography learn nike globalisation case study
So today, had a bit of a set back. Teacher didn't really like my literature coursework. So I have got to somehow write all of it again (the whole 2500 words) by Monday. I have seen some examples of what I should be aiming for though, so I will be resilient and try again for what seems like the 2000th time.
Right now I am doing physics revision, as this English seems to be taking up my whole life and pushing away all of my other subjects :/

I know this probably doesn't help, but last year when I did my Edexcel Eng Lit exam we'd already studied the 'unseen' poem in class by chance!
Look for other poems by the poets in your anthology - I'm guessing that's how my teacher managed it! (Or maybe she's just magic?!)

School bits:
Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs in less than 100 days (eek). I also had mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread made sure I kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

(WJEC) English Language: A*
(WJEC) English Literature: A*
(Edexcel) Maths: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Biology: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Chemistry: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Physics: A*
(AQA) German: A*
(OCR Modern) History: A*
(AQA) Geography: A*
(OCR National) ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of my left eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Mocks (22nd Feb)
Here's the posts I made about the mocks I have just taken

Good Luck, I wish you all the best for your GCSE's,

respect for dealing with eczema, I suffered terrible eczema when I was younger.

Does anyone have any of mice and men templates for character profiles? It would be so helpful if I can use!
UPDATE 27/04/16: 19 days left
Today I received my Geography mock paper 1 back and I got an A* but it was just an A* literally on the borderline if i lost another mark then it would be an A- need to work a little harder on that
I also got my Psychology mock back and i got an A*

1. Poetry Analysis + Research
2. French C.A - Recap of everything I memorised so far
3. Chemistry - Evaluation of Biofuels
4. LOTF - Quotes for Civilisation + Savagery
5. Geography - past paper
6. Case studies - (6)

27/04/2016 - Evening update

It feels like I never update anymore.

Today was simply awful. It started off with RS with that STUPID trainee we've had for a few weeks - I cannot stand her. Then we had physics where we did a p4 revision lesson but I did no work at all. After break we had English where we had an of mice and men lit question, mine started off really well but then I ran out of ideas and lost focus on the question in the middle so I probably screwed it up. After English we had double chemistry, literally a recipe for disaster. Our new teacher is constantly unsure of himself and is confusing things that don't have to be confusing. I actually hated today so much.

As if all that wasn't bad enough, I fell on the stairs on the bus today too.

Although the day has finally come - stress has officially hit me, and bloody hard as well. I've cried 4 times today (I absolutely hate crying but it's becoming more and more frequent now), and I'm really jittery and feel on the edge of a nervous breakdown. I feel sick, and really, really scared. Nothing that I've revised has paid off so far. I just feel completely and utterly useless . There's also one person stressing me out on top of all this but she doesn't even know she's doing it.

Today's just been a horrible, horrible day.
