In the book it does say a continuity correction can be applied depending on a question. It is definitely in the chapter 3 somewhere in a red box where they write comments.

Can you tell me the page number?

I know that theoretically it makes sense - in fact, most other boards use a correction of ±12n\pm \frac{1}{2n} after using the CLT, where nn is the sample size. But Edexcel doesn't follow it for some reason.

The questions on random numbers in the book are not so great :s-smilie: I guess in the exam, just pick the numbers in a random way (eg going down a column or across a row), say what you're doing and .... I think that works.

When you expect an add further maths student to pick out random numbers from a chart 😂

It's been too long, I'll have a look at the most recent ones and see if it pops up.

Ah, it kind of half-came up in the paper I sat, question 1. But no need to use the tables here, just to appreciate them.

I'm at uni. And no, they gave a specialised function. Also, I thought you said that MLE wasn't a part of A levels?

I know you are  you get UMS, sort of, at uni as well. At least, I do! It's just not as clear/transparent as at A-level.

Lol I can never get full marks in anything, I make too many mistakes.

At levels I had 100 UMS knowledge but I'd never actually get it. It's always 97, 95 lol so annoying.
