Maths C4 past paper #.9 --> 73/75 = 93% = A*. (100% = 75, A* = 72, A = 69, B = 61)

Just finished Jan 2011-June 2015 regular Edexcel C4 past papers.

I'm hoping to start the IAL C3/4 past papers this weekend Jan 2014 - Jan 2016 = 5 past papers
in 5 weeks weeks by just doing x1 past paper/week to retain skills. Should finish IAL papers late
May & have the entire June month dedicated to Madasmaths past papers. :smile:

Yes, I think so. I'm resitting all of my AS modules. :s-smilie:

Nicely done, Hows C3 and M1 going?

C3 is fine and nothing really challenging in there. M1 on the other hand = :argh:

I should finish self teaching M1 in 3 days and start hitting past papers on Monday+
Wbu? :smile:
Help with all of C4? :biggrin:
This is my second 'how many marks' question but...

In the paper I've just done, it asked me to prove that the integral of tanx is ln|secx| + c. I genuinely didn't know how to go about it (hadn't covered it in class but I'm gonna learn the proof now)

But what I did was differentiate ln|secx|+c to get tanx instead (thought might as well)

How many marks would that get? Please say at least one :lol: :redface:

Show us the question format,
It should get full if it had This ImageUploadedByStudent Room1461876013.023446.jpg

It was exactly that format :yes:

(Btw nice pen)

That's full marks. :yes:

FWIW, the proof is just: tanxdx=sinxcosxdx=sinxcosx\displaystyle \int \tan x \, \mathrm{d}x = \int \frac{\sin x}{\cos x} \, \mathrm{d}x = -\int \frac{-\sin x}{\cos x}

where the top is the derivative of the bottom, so: tanxdx=lncosx+c=lnsecx+c\int \tan x \, \mathrm{d}x = -\ln |\cos x| + c= \ln |\sec x | + c.

I feel a bit proud for using the small bit of initiative I have :redface:
Cheers, I've written it out in colour, and used substitution :teehee:

I write really hard, like really dig into my paper, so I'm always afraid to use them :redface:

M1 is quite easy bro, I've yet to do normal past papers, I think they'll be a breeze as I've already got a solid grip on the syllabus of C34 M1.

I think i can manage 3 papers a day easily.

How do people do this? I'm lucky if I get 1 paper done a day.

Haha, you gotta push yourself :tongue:

I've managed 5 papers in a day in the past.
