As I understand it, Monaco told everyone a price they didn't think anyone would pay, everyone else backed off, apart from Utd who bounded along and paid it anyway.

Because thats stopped them going for people in the past.

Ultimately, it boils down to De Gea's decision. If he wants to go United will let him (like Ronaldo) but if he stays then happy days.
