Just to remind myself:
HA <-----> H+ + A-

- Addition of acid = increase in H+ = equilibrium shifts to left, as more of HA forms

-Addition of alkali = increase in OH- = equilibrium shifts to right - H+ + OH- ----> H20 so equilibrium shifts to restore H+ concentration

Wow how did you revise?

If I don't get a concept in my class notes, I look at multiple other sources until I do get it.

Essentially not giving up if I don't get something

Understand the chemistry, not the mark scheme. If you properly understand the chemistry, rather than recalling it (theres a difference) then chances are you will know what the key points are for whatever the question is on and you will get the marks, since they tend to be what the examiner is looking for

I understand it, I promise :frown:. I've never been into the whole recalling nonsense. It's just that when answering questions I often tend to miss out certain things which are marking points or don't phrase things the right way. Maybe I do need to read into the content in more depth, but I'm also quite sure that I need to practise learning what kind of things the exam expects too.

Cambridge

What subject are you applying for?
Well done on getting the Cambridge offer!

What's the subject you'll be doing at uni?

I would recommend chemguide for revision, it goes into a much greater depth than any text book. Good luck for your exams, what are you hoping to do next year?

Thank you! Applying for maths next year; chemistry isn't actually even a part of my offer, but I rather enjoy it and wouldn't mind doing well in it :h:.

Natural Sciences, specialising maybe in Biochemistry :yep:

Fair enough but we all know physics is the best out of those 4...

Don't listen to the nonsense above, maths is definitely the best.

Nice! I was considering applying for Biochem, until I realised that I'd probably need Biology in order to do that .

I'm sorry, I wouldn't want to water down any of my nice pure maths with any of that nonsense application :colonhash:.

Not really but it's good to have it for biochem :yep:

But I'm sure you'll do well in Maths :h:
You on AQA for Biology?

You on AQA for Biology?

Yes g
How you feeling for that?

How you feeling for that?

Need to revise for the EMPA

I'll certainly need it; a bad day sitting STEP III would sink any chance of making the offer

Just curious, will you be fasting during the exam season?

There is no bad day. Only good day and not so good day

I've said I'll try my first exam fasting and if I feel like it's affecting my performance, I won't fast in any further exam
Original post by Mathemagicien
Is that like an ISA?

Funnily enough, I recall some research finding that sitting exams when slightly hungry improved exam performance.

Yeah, just externally marked

I'll keep that in mind :0
