we should all team up - someone write a petition on change.org and tweet it - we'd get so many signatures and consideration and get marked less harshly

I'm super stressed. For question 1, I used 2 points for bp1 and 4 for bp2 and 2 for bp2. Physically, I wrote similar amounts. Additionally, I said she would go to the sanctuary alone for bp3... would that be relevant? with this info, what would you assume I got for q1
for question 1, i over done it and went over my limit, i wrote about a third of a page on the additional paper, is that ok?

Question Two
-------------------
Some examples:

a) . Staged scenes: carefully put together, dramatic like a play
. laced with sunlight: lit beautifully, lace is something fine and expensive, special, high quality
romantic... half-forgotten sandy roads; like a picture book - nostalgic - movie like
Conjuring a charming mirage - skillfully constructed, like a wizard; impressive, fantastic
white-washed walls: alliteration highlighting how stark they were
Embroidered gowns: fine detail, links to silk.
Imagery of a fairytale kingdom

b) bits of cloth - cheap, incomplete material
rainbow of produce - varied, colourful
Beehive that was the old town - busy, all working hard and quickly going their separate ways
Straggling market stalls - slow, like someone losing a race
Tatty trinkets - useless bits, cheap and cheesy, badly made

This has reassured me. I managed to attain an A* average in coursework worth 40% (37/40) and a high A in Speaking and listening (26/30), so I believe I should get an A* or A overall? ps. Does anyone know how to calculate the marks I needed to get an A*?

Screenshot 2016-05-03 at 19.27.00.png What you do is get your speaking and listening mark (?/30), add it to you coursework mark (?/50) and add your exam mark (?/50). Then you will fit into a grade boundary in option block B2 as that is what you did.:smile:

and will 100 including coursework get me an A?
For bullet point 3 I said Mary is going to apologise to the owner Al and everyone else her husband was rude to like the chef and other hotel visitors is this right?
Question 1:
Impression of the hotel and staff:
Al was conscientious of low likelihood of obtaining a cab;
Personal greeting by hotel manager at the airport - unusual;
Pre-arranged itinerary for the guests;
Fresh food used in dishes;
Gave the best suite in the hotel to Mr & Mrs Head;
Tried to improve their stay whenever he could, e.g. changing the pillows;
It was very remote, highlighting it's tranquility;
Perhaps some inclusion that Maria may have recognised that it was all very put-on by Al

Attitude and behaviour of Mr Head:
Very dismissive of the market and what it had to offer, and made his thoughts known;
Ate dinner very inelegantly;
He bullied Al into changing their intinerary;
Taunted guests who were going to do what he believed were "boring" activities;
Denied the opportunity of going to the animal sanctuary;
Refused to go on a small hike to the top of a hill;
Very rude and arrogant behaviour led to him getting injured whilst rafting;

Plans for the few remaining days:
Fill out the medical forms for Mr Head;
Pick him up from the hospital on Friday;
Go home on Friday;
Perhaps continue with Al's planned itinerary alone;
Engage in conversation with the beekeeper;
Have a cup of tea and talk to Al on the terrace;
Write in her notebook/ Read a book on the terrace;
Go to the animal sanctuary which she previously couldn't see due to her husband's ignorance;
Immerse herself in the local culture.

Question 2:
2a) The winning entry:
He'd been entranced;
Charming mirage;
White-washed walls;
Conjuring;
Half-forgotten;
Ancient civilisations.

2b) The market:

Al's opinion:
Laden;
Rainbow of produce;
Orange trees laced with sunlight
Beehive

Mr Head's opinion:
Straggly;
Tatty;
Complained loudly;
If explained really well and justified: Bits of cloth.

Question 3:
Almost a third of the world's crops depend on bees' pollination;
Their extinction could lead to worldwide famine;
They are a natural pollinator;
They are one of the world's eldest still-living creatures;
They can help produce medicine;
They help grow healthy food;
Their population numbers help reflect the current state of the environment;
If they were to go extinct farmers would have to use artificial, slow methods to fill their space;
If they died out, the price of food would increase sharply;
If bees no longer existed, the food industry would have to spend money on labour to fill their space;
CCD causes mental damage to bees;
Chemicals in pesticides distort their behavioural patterns fatally;
Lack of variation in genes sees them catch and all did from one disease easily;
The organism which feeds on their blood is depleting the population;
Wild bees could not and would not be used in industry should they go extinct;
They are travelled around which weakens their immune system;
They are exposed to new diseases when travelling;
Different climates and weathers puts physical stress on the bees;
There are many viruses which naturally occur in and kill bees.

Do I find the grade by adding coursework + speaking + score.

Also. If I wrote 2 of the named points for Q1 pt 1&3 but 4 for bullet point 2 what mark would I be looking at?

Also, will 100 total mark put me in the A* boundary?
Reply 96
Honestly, was this an easier paper than last year?
Reply 97
for q1, I wrote 2 points for BP1, 4 for BP2, 2 for BP3. They amounted to about the same amount in writing, but I was just wondering what mark I would get for an answer like this?
