Saddest, most upsetting and depressing movie you've watched

The Truman Show
The boy in the striped pajamas. Because there surely can't be anything more depressing than the holocaust...
Grave of the Fireflies. It's so depressing that it makes the film just horrible to watch. Literally the saddest film I've ever seen omg. Especially if you have a younger sibling.

Dogtooth
Triumph of the Will
The Elephant Man. I find it to be so emotionally upsetting that I actively try to avoid watching it nowadays. Regardless of the fact that I believe it to be a great film.

Click. I remember being so bummed when I saw it in the cinema as a kid. It was advertised as a gentle, Adam Sandler comedy!

Schindler's List. I knew it was sad, but I've never cried so much at a film before. Really, really truly sad.

The Truman Show

Ngl that movie did make me tear up... He is such a good actor
The Perks of Being a Wallflower ripped my heart out of my chest and left behind nothing but an empty cavity. :cry2:
Now, a lot of films aren't actually depressing in their content, but the endings are so dreary that I guess I should note them:

Taxi Driver (although, not essentially a happy plot)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (for such a cherry, candy-coloured theme, too)
Brazil
The Wickerman (perhaps more frightening than anything)
We Need To Talk About Kevin
Withnail & I
The Lovely Bones is probably the most memorable sad film I've watched, really messed me up for a good few months.

They didn't know it had actual sex scenes...and neither did I at the time. I watched it on my own. I'd seen simulated "movie sex" before but when I watched that film I was like wait.......WHAT?

EDIT: I hadn't seen porn before either so that film shocked the hell out of me :/

'Blue Valentine' ... So depressing but good. It's like the flip side to a rom com. Oh and also 'Keeping Rosy' and 'What Maisie Knew'

Can't believe so many people like 'Her', I thought it was shocking! Tried twice to watch it til the end but both times ended up turning it off barely halfway through. I normally do persevere with films even if I'm not that keen but it was just too cringey and terrible. Maybe I just didn't get it?
