Anyone have some great tips for GCSE English?

Hey guys, my English exam is in just a little over a week, and was wondering if you have any tips to share in terms of structures of paragraphs, quotations, time management, etc. Thanks alot guys!!

There's a paragraph structure (PETAL) that you can follow like this:
P oint
E vidence (quote)
T echnique (e.g. is it a metaphor, similie etc.)
A nalysis (how does it make the point, and can you include historical context and author's intentions?)
L ink (link back to the point you made and the overall question)

Also it's good for quotes if you can analyse individual word choices and their connotations (e.g. light has connotations of hope, happiness etc.) rather than just talking about the general meaning of quotes. This will also help with talking about more overarching themes in texts such as darkness, deception, or whatever the themes are in your particular texts.

Hope that helps! xx

Are you on Edexcel? If so, the examiners reports are absolutely amazing, so beneficial:smile: They have full marks answers and not so great answer so you can see what went well and what could have been done better.
