B cells presenting antigen to themselves

In humoral response, why do B cells presenting antigen to themselves?

Thanks in advance!

So that T-cells can be activated (as they fail to identify particular antigen in the absent of antigen presentation)

I don't think B cells present antigens to other B cells... not that I can remember anyway. I might be wrong. They mainly present the antigen to T helper cells, in order for the specific passing T helper cell with the right receptor shape to then become activated and replicate.

Where did you read this? :P I don't think that's right, B cells take up antigen and present it on their surface to be activated by T cells, alternatively they can be activated just by the antigen (thymus independent activation)
