Standard deviation is a measure of the reliability of data. High s.d. indicates low reliability and vice versa.

validity is associated with variable control/variability

how does it indirectly measure validity?????

See
validity refers to the methodology
reliabilty refers to the repetition
SDs are calculated by using averages values which require repetition of the experiment to be obtained.
repetition reduces percentage errors due to methodology
thats why valid results are also reliable and relaible results are valid
i hope i make sense
