Did any of you also find the test hard compared to previous years?

What was the test for iodine?

First I put down dilute hno3, then agn03 gives yellow ppt
But I changed it to add h2so4, purple fumes
and -1225 for graph
For iodine ATOM it was add conc. H2SO4 and result was rotten egg smell from H2S
I got carbonate ion wrong,As a result the equation was wrong.

I put add warm sodium hydroxide, then add dilute nitric acid and agno3 to give yellow ppt.

-418 Kj/mol
and 41%

how come its -418

I did 400g for the water?? and 1.65g for the hydrocarbon

and did all workout and i got -393

It was not extremely harder, but the overall thing was different for sure. They have changed the 'design' of the exam.

I can't be sure about the 41% answer, why do we divide by the larger number and not the 800? Can someone explain? I also did 41% but it's annoying me.

I know I'm so annoyed about the carbonate one. That's like 3 marks :frown:

Yeah it was very different,The usual fill in the blanks was not there and the long paragraph question about alcohols was not there

I got the moles by 1.65/Molar mass of CH3OH and then enthalpy change by energy/moles

because the equation is the error/result * 100
Do you think the grade boundaries this year will be lower or not?

Yeah thats what I did, but got like -393
I would say A would be at 32,That's my guess.

32/50?!

Then I'm pretty sure I would get an A.

Naa mate, last year 31 was A and paper was easier, so I think 29 is A

How so?
1.65/32=Ans 1
Change=Energy/Ans 1=Ans 2
What did you guys wrtie in that question in which we had to convert G TO F?
I wrote that reagent = potassium hydroxide
Condition = alcoholic
Last year it was 33/50 for an A, and I felt last year's paper was easier than today's.
