Those of us who have offers still have to pass the pre-employment checks before we get an offer of employment. Does anyone know what these entail? Is it a given that we will pass these, or can employers reject applicants they find unsuitable, and if so, what sort of criteria do they use?

I think collecting the references that you provided and checking that they're satisfactory and a DBS check? Checking that you actually worked were you said you've worked in your application, and that you achieved the grades you said you achieved at university.
Has anyone on here accepted an offer for Audiology? It's seemed pretty quiet on that front
Anyone with offers for Respiratory / Sleep Science or other specialism holding to see if they get a cardiac science offer?
Any Biochem offered in London rejected their offer?? Checking if its worth me opting in for upgrades. I've been placed in Southampton

im not sure yet - there 4 positions at 4 different hospitals. we get to rank them in september i think, so won't know until then!!

which hospital will you be based at? theres going to be quite a few of us across all the specialisms down in london isn't there!

Think I'll be based at The Royal London Hospital, very exciting I absolutely cannot wait! Yeah, I'm moving there from the North!

No, I'm waiting for Vascular and Cardiac, although I wanted to apply for respiratory, but thought I had a better chance with vascular. Just killing time, wondering if there are people with offers from other specialisms who might accept their other offer immediately or whether they would prefer cardiology so waiting for that! I know a lot of people apply for cardiology and resp / sleep!

It really doesn't change anything for me, just curious!
Same im on reserve for audiology think theres one person who posted in here theyv got a position but other than that theres noone

Wow big move for you then? I'm already in London for my PhD so thankfully won't have to move too far!

Oh cool. Hopefully you'll hear soon. Which do you prefer vascular or cardiac?

Im a reserve for genomic counselling and to be honest i'm absolutely heart broken but that's the way the cookie crumbles I suppose :P!

Im pretty sure I know where I lost marks at interview, the NHS Core Values and the Genomic Counselling station. The GC station was my final station and by that point I was so spaced out I actually couldn't tell you what I said or didn't say. Im keeping all my fingers crossed because I put down every hospital as a preference but I'll be honest, I don't think it'll happen this year. I can't think of any other career I would want to be a part of, so i'll be applying again next year but Im not sure what to do in the mean time? I'm currently finishing my MRes and I work part time in a patient facing role but I'd really hate to go back full time to my part time job (I worked there for 2 years full time prior to the MRes). I've been trying to find a way that I could apply for roles that would make me an in-service applicant next year for Genomic counselling but I genuinely cannot find anything in that department in the entire of the UK.

Congratulations to everyone who has been offered a post, it's been such a horrendous and draining process so truly well done ! I think everyone who applied back in Feb shouldn't feel too disheartened because what an epic journey we've all been on!

I'd prefer cardiac, but think I have a better chance of vascular, if I have any chance at all!

Good luck to you too! I've been pretty useless the last couple of days at work haha, will be nice to be put out of our misery tomorrow!

Why would you prefer cardiac?

Posted from TSR Mobile

I just studied a lot more content related to the cardiac specialism during my degree, nothing against vascular.

Oh, okay. Just wondering 'cause I'm waiting for both of those as well!

I had just finished the process of going through pre-employment checks for a different position (nuclear medicine techologist) before i got my second choice STP place. They just check your references, CRB/DBS check and your right to work. All in it took around 3 weeks and once they were complete I got my unconditional offer of employment and told to contact my line manager to arrange a start date.
As horrible as i felt, I told them today I wouldnt be able to take the position (because i got this) but thats the process I recently went through!
