Your realization was correct.Physics is basically like a leech that sucks the life out of you,You can't handle that with a lot on your plate already.

Ikr :P
But most of my friends say that Physics is easier than Chemistry. Is that true? o.O

Guys are these the correct order, questions and marks for the exam? It adds up to 50 but I've got a feeling I've missed some questions/ overestimated marks - so if you recognise any please tell me:

Flame test experiment (3 marks)
Name lilac cation (1 mark)
Name gas produced CO2 (1 mark)
Test for water (2 marks)
Name anion HCO3 (1 mark)
Write reaction including state symbols (2 marks)
Name E (1 mark)
Observation of -OH testing (2 marks)
Testing for iodine (2 marks)
Potassium manganate change (2 marks)
Draw the product (diol) (1 mark)
Draw carboxylic acid and aldehyde (2 marks)
IR spectra (2 marks)
Draw major product (2 marks)
Why was minor not produced? (2 marks)
Label reflux equipment (3 marks)
Why water flow used that way? (2marks)
How to change equipment for distillation (3 marks)
Name drying agent (1 mark)
Calculate energy transferred in enthalpy experiment (2 marks)
Calculate kJ per moles (2 marks)
Draw and label graph (2 marks)
Find enthalpy for C2H5OH (1 mark)
Explain why trend shown (2 marks)
Calculate percentage error (2 marks)E
valuate method and validity (4 marks)

PCl5 is the correct test,A tertiary alchohol doesn't react with potassium dichromate and H2SO4.You can't use that test. The question was about confirming OH group.Carboxylic acid also has OH group but it doesn't react with potassium dichromate and change color from orange to green.

It wasnt a tertiary alcohol, it was one top of the table, it was an alcohol not carboxylic acid.

How was your exam guys ?
What was the enthalpy change value in alcohol combustion question ?

like abot 39.5 kjmol-1

Lol I'm pretty sure all the time zones have finished their papers right? I don't want the mark schemes going up. :/
Original post by notsoclueless
It was basically about how to test for the presence of the -OH group

add pcl5

We weren't asked about why the water flows that way. They did ask us about what the Liebig condenser was and what is it's purpose and that was 2 marks.
Calculate kj per mole was 3 marks. And Labelling was 2 marks. 1 mark was for naming the process.

Supposed to be -418 or something :P

I don't they specified that in the question passage,Perhaps in another passage maybe. But I think the question wasn't asking about a specific alcohol it just said 'Test for OH' the correct test is PCl5
If they WERE in fact asking for a specific alcohol which you claim is not tertiary or acid then yeah I think that should be fine.

Yes -418 KJ/Mol
is fractionating collumn correct? For the distillation apparatus oh and i just wrote granules in the reflux apparatus is it acceptable?

Spoiler

But a line graph is most suitable as it lets us see the overall trend, yes? It's easier to interpret that way, especially because in the next question, we were asked to give an estimate for some C3H7OH, I think. How could you have gotten an estimate using a bar graph?

I did something like this: http://i.stack.imgur.com/IQD8J.gif

Yes -418 KJ/Mol

Which I got while I was calculating at home :P

idk if only granules is correct or not because a classmate of mine suggested that there are many types of granules or something.Maybe it'll be accepted or maybe not.
I think fractionating column is wrong,I wrote the same thing.
