Compulsive lurker of this page here....

I'm on the reserve list for clinical biochem

Does anyone know when upgrades and new offers to reserves are offered? Can it be at anytime as soon as someone declines a position or do they amass the results of the first offers, then release a second batch of upgrade/reserver offers a couple of days later?

thanks!

Most streams had until today to either reject, hold or accept their offer, so I imagine there will be more offers going out in the next few days

Just got an offer for Clinical Bioinformatics (Genomics)- Oxford

Congrats on your offer! I've accepted for Genomics at Oxford, think there will be a few of us there- maybe enough for a house share?

Congratulations everyone who got offers! I'm in-service for repro and accepted an offer today. I applied twice as direct and then in-service this year, its a long old journey but totally worth it if it's what you really want!
Anyone else accepted for repro?

I was wondering about the Uni too. I think Manchester are one of the uni's bidding for it this year.

I'm a current Genetic Technologist at Sheffield and I can assure you everyone is lovely. The STP trainers are great too! You are in safe hands! Do you live in Sheffield?x

I visited the Sheffield department a couple of times and yeah everyone seemed lovely - maybe I have met you already before! Was Manchester your first choice or were you hoping for Sheffield? I'm currently living in York.

Can u ask what job you're in? Is it NHS? And was your first time applying while you were still at university?

I'm almost the equivalent of you a year ago. Last year I was reserve for an interview then got an interview with 16 hours before (guess someone must have been ill or something). & then was reserve after interview both last year and this year. Last year's interview went mostly really well but I wasnt at all prepared so a couple of questions tripped me up, and this year's interview I felt quite prepared but it didn't go well on the day.

Well done on getting a place this time! Well deserved after going through this 3 times!

Thanks! I will PM you - which specialism did you apply to?

Just accepted Clinical Bioinformatics (Physical Sciences) in Sheffield , over a long night of thinking XD .So happy <3

Hi! Congratulations for getting a place! I'm doing Clinical Bioinformatics (PS) too, I guess I'll see you during the masters training  I chose Sheffield as my second choice, it seems very reasonable in terms of price of living and it is right next to the Peak district which is beautifull! I drived past Sheffield during the easter break and it seems a clean peaceful town, just the right size, but I was only there for a few hours....
Why did you have to think about accepting Sheffield overnight? What was your first choice?

Thank you! ☺️ I applied to Audiology

What are your backgrounds if you dont mind me asking?i got put on the reserve for audiology anything i could do differently next year

I'm just finishing a Biomedical science degree at the moment. I didn't have any work experience or anything directly related to Audiology apart from a few lectures we did as part of my degree. I'm really not sure what I did to get an offer! Still in shock about getting one haha

I'm actually from Scotland so I'm pleased to be nearer home! As much as I love Sheffield, the drive is much shorter from Manchester! xo.

Well done on your offer you must have given a great interview! Do you mind if I PM you a few questions about the interview as I'm planning to apply again next year (currently on reserve list)?

Yep I'm also on the reserve list. It will be a relief to get our interview ranks and work out whether there is any real chance of getting an offer or not. I think audiology is probably a specialism with less chance of people dropping out because there isn't a closely related specialism really so less likelihood of people with 2 offers.

Did you apply for any other specialism?

Just got an offer for Cardiac Science at Papworth!!!!

congrats!!! @ least the wait is over for you, i made a phone call today to ask when i'd find out and got told all the offers for cardiac would be out today and then get an email after 5pm saying there's been a delay with in service offers. Wish the woman on the phone was just honest with me, would have stopped me checking oriel in between every patient for updates XD

Yeah sure that's fine  , although i'm not sure how much help i'll be as I got one of my lower ranked areas so I probably only got a few points more than people on the reserve lists

I know but it seems as though rankings wont be released for a while all we keep hearing is 'in due course' Thats true and there was only a few places aswell, neurophys probably the closest linked one but we can hope for a bit longer although i no longer have sleepless nightsNope just audiology i wish i did apply another, how about you Any other specialism?

Hi guys! Congrats to those with offers and fingers crossed to those like me on the reserve list! Just wondering if anyone had contacted them with regards to 'soon' about the ranking scores. It's so vague and I'm itching to find out how high (or low) I am on the list so I know whether or not I have any hope.

I applied last year and was also a reserve. However they took months to release the interview ranks last year. Argh! Hope it's not the same!!!
