Potential Introverted Warwick freshers 2016

To be honest, I don't do clubbing and drinking but I'm interested in every other thing that just involves having a good time. Going to the movies, getting to know people, having meaningful conversations, laughing till the stomach hurts, travelling,idk little things like going for walks. Anything but drinking or clubbing, not that I mind having friends that do them.

Are there any potential Warwickers that are like me, even if you're shy it does not really matter. I'm not shy but I can understand people that are shy haha.

I just wanted to create a thread for those of us that are not too excited about the clubbing/drinking aspect or even the thought of meeting your new flat mates/socialising

Yeah that kind of sounds like me. I've never really cared for clubbing, I'd much rather do things like movies, long conversations, walks and generally having a good time. I drink very (very) occasionally but it wouldn't really bother me if I never touched a drop of alcohol again.

It kind of makes me a little apprehensive about meeting people because it seems like most people go to uni with the mindset of wanting to drink and go clubbing as often as possible, so I'm a bit worried I won't fit in. It's good to know that there are people going who don't have that mindset and would rather spend their time having fun in different ways :smile:

I don't like the idea of clubbing, but i do like a drink at a bar or pub with friends. That being said, i would be interested in doing something else; I don't think i would fit in with the clubbing crowd.
As an extreme introvert the prospect of meeting new people is horrifying... Being socially awkward doesn't help either.:s-smilie: Hopefully there is a decent amount of freshers events that are catered for non-clubbers.

Ahh, it really is assuring that there are people like me as well. Your reply basically, basically describes me. I think we'll be fine because I like to think that there are sensible people enough to respect that there are also people who don't appreciate that kind of fun.

What course are you applying for, and have you started looking at accommodation options? :smile:

That is totally fine, I don't even mind if I have friends who are party animals or just slight drinkers.

I just want to be able to have my own kind of fun with people who are also interested. Maybe we could do somethings (hopefully) when we get to uni?

Heeyy, try not to worry too much. I believe there are a number of events that are suited for non-clubbers.

And for the making friends part, I also believe that if you come with an open mind and try, people will see past your shyness. Remember that a lot of people have shy friends.

With that being said, bear in mind that a lot of people will also be in the same boat as you:smile:

You just stole my personal description haha. In my opinion, not going clubbing doesn't mean you're an introvert. I am very excited about coming to Warwick, I want to meet as many great people as possible and do lots of things and I am sure we have that oppotunity there.

I'm doing biological sciences, and as for accomodation I'm still fairly clueless :frown: I've had a little look but im nowhere near decided yet. How about you?

I got an offer from MORSE!! - and i am very much an introvert in the sense I don't like clubbling or drinking but I am quite sociable in general. Iam looking forward to meeting new people in warwick!!!

Maybe we can!

I have an offer in the computer science department, and i am looking at Arthur Vick or Sherbourne, but Sherbourne is far away, want an en suite room.

Yeah I agree with Princepieman, being introverted doesn't mean that you're shy per say, enjoying some time alone to 'recharge'.

I'm with some of you guys on drinking: i drink, and im assuming like you, its at the point where its not a compulsory thing (til exams roll around).

I'm thinking of applying to Tocil / Arthur Vick if that helps ? Out of curiosity, can i ask why you picked those places for accomodation ?
I feel like this thread just describes me, I'm not very introverted per say but having seen some of the stuff my friends have gotten into whilst clubbing etc. excessive drinking and clubbing are just things I'm too keen on.
I'm also looking at Arthur Vick which someone who graduated last year recommended to me, knowing that I'm not really into the clubbing scene. I'm planning on doing History btw :smile:
A lot of the university societies look interesting. Im not particularly outgoing but Im really looking forward to the social experience , new people, etc.

A fresh start, really.
