Hey fellow Cambridge-ers! I'll be moving from London! Anyone else moving too, or are you all there already?

I'm here already - my house is close to Addenbrooke's and my lab is towards Papworth so I'm sure we'll cross paths! If you need any advice on where to live I'll be happy to help

My scores were as follows if this helps anyone:

Genomics: Shortlist = 51 Interview = 47 Rank = 2

Bioinformatics (Genomics): Shortlist = 45 Interview = 42 Rank = 4

I was originally shortlist reserve for Bioinformatics and only found out I was getting an interview a couple of days beforehand (so someone must have declined).

Are there any other Genomics Newcastle people on here? Trying to find my new STP colleagues

This is really weird, my shortlist score for this year was 50, which is exactly the same as I got last year, but they didn't give me an interview or even interview reserve last year! Maybe everyone else just did better last year!

Really strange - exactly the same happened to me! Got 50 for cardiac shortlisting last year but didn't even make it onto the interview reserve list! This year I got 50 too but got an interview! 44/50 for interview and ranked 10th - surprised I actually got my first choice.

Just want to say to those who haven't made it this year - this was my fourth year of applying, thought I'd never give up as there's nothing else I want to do in life hah but it's such a tough and exhausting process that I didn't think I could do it again next year, very relived to have a place finally, but just don't give up! If you want something so much and try hard enough it will happen eventually

Hi Foxchops, I was indeed referring to you, sorry about downgrading your score my bad .. Well I thought the interview had gone ok but seeing my score and rank I am a bit disappointed.. Thought I would at least be up on the reserve list.

No worries! Well you still never know, and definitely get your feedback, it costs a tenner but it's worth it as it'll give you an idea what areas you need to work on if it doesn't work out this year. Good luck!

Guys I emailed them to confirm how to get feedback and we don't need to pay for it this year and can do it over email. Got this reponse:

"If you would like feedback you will need to put your request formally in writing to: [email protected] There is no longer a fee for this."

Hey out of curiosity, did you submit pretty much the same application every year? I'll probably apply next year and was just wondering if it is likely I'll be able to just re submit more or less what I already have??

What have you been doing in the mean time over the last 4 years??

I submitted almost the same application this year as last year, I just made what I thought were a few improvements but I got lower shortlisting scores, but weirdly more interviews!

Last year:
Cardiac - shortlist score 52 - Shortlist unsuccessful
Vascular - Shortlist Score 50 - Interview Score 34 - Offers Rank 20

This Year:
Cardiac - shortlist score 46 - Interview Score 46 - Offers Rank 6
Vascular - Shortlist Score 43 - Interview Score 35 - Offers Rank 23

I'm in-service and already based in Cambridge too  I'm guessing there will be a few of us from different specialisms doing rotations in Addenbrooke's!

Might be unlikely as there's only four positions, but anyone accepted offers for Clinical Immunology?

Yeah I accepted my offer for clinical immunology at Heart of England!
Does anyone know what the shortlisting score was out of?

Ah what specialism are you doing?
Original post by Joshb1
Seems like the competition for Resp/Sleep wasn't quite as high as other specialisms. I got 48 - Shortlist, 44 - Interview, 4 - Interview Rank.

Hello, please what are your qualifications? I am considering applying next year, so trying to figure out the relevant degrees. Thank you.

I was shortlist unsuccessful for Rep Med and got shortlist score 43, does anyone know around the cut off for interview?

I don't think there's a score cut off, they just take the top (3 x number of posts) applicants. So if there are 10 posts, the top 30 people get an interview, so essentially where the cut off lies depends on the quality of the applications from other applicants.

Reproductive Science  I think the genetics, cytology and histology rotations will probably be at Addenbrooke's! I hope they are anyway because that's the closest hospital for me...
I know there are three reproductive science people based in Cambridge this year too, so there will be a few of us
