NHS Scientist Training Programme 2016 applicants!

Hey fellow Cambridge-ers! I'll be moving from London! Anyone else moving too, or are you all there already?

My scores were as follows if this helps anyone:

Genomics: Shortlist = 51 Interview = 47 Rank = 2

Bioinformatics (Genomics): Shortlist = 45 Interview = 42 Rank = 4

I was originally shortlist reserve for Bioinformatics and only found out I was getting an interview a couple of days beforehand (so someone must have declined).

Are there any other Genomics Newcastle people on here? Trying to find my new STP colleagues

This is really weird, my shortlist score for this year was 50, which is exactly the same as I got last year, but they didn't give me an interview or even interview reserve last year! Maybe everyone else just did better last year!

Hi Foxchops, I was indeed referring to you, sorry about downgrading your score my bad .. Well I thought the interview had gone ok but seeing my score and rank I am a bit disappointed.. Thought I would at least be up on the reserve list.

Really strange - exactly the same happened to me! Got 50 for cardiac shortlisting last year but didn't even make it onto the interview reserve list! This year I got 50 too but got an interview! 44/50 for interview and ranked 10th - surprised I actually got my first choice.

Just want to say to those who haven't made it this year - this was my fourth year of applying, thought I'd never give up as there's nothing else I want to do in life hah but it's such a tough and exhausting process that I didn't think I could do it again next year, very relived to have a place finally, but just don't give up! If you want something so much and try hard enough it will happen eventually

Hey out of curiosity, did you submit pretty much the same application every year? I'll probably apply next year and was just wondering if it is likely I'll be able to just re submit more or less what I already have??

Might be unlikely as there's only four positions, but anyone accepted offers for Clinical Immunology?

I'm in-service and already based in Cambridge too I'm guessing there will be a few of us from different specialisms doing rotations in Addenbrooke's!

Seems like the competition for Resp/Sleep wasn't quite as high as other specialisms. I got 48 - Shortlist, 44 - Interview, 4 - Interview Rank.

I'm here already - my house is close to Addenbrooke's and my lab is towards Papworth so I'm sure we'll cross paths! If you need any advice on where to live I'll be happy to help

I was shortlist unsuccessful for Rep Med and got shortlist score 43, does anyone know around the cut off for interview?

Ahhh awesome! Advice on where to live would be great! I have no Idea but i'm really excited to move (if a little sad to be leaving London haha)

Yeah I accepted my offer for clinical immunology at Heart of England!
